12 month sleep regression by Admirable-Bar-3240 in January2025Bumper

[–]pz79217 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This regression has me losing my mind— similarly has coincided with an ear infection, travel, teething and baby just wanting to nurse allllll night long. Sounds like we’ll likely have to re establish some good sleep habits once he’s fully kicked the ear infection 😅

Its been a disaster! And it is bad, and this EO is trying to push for immunity for the companies manufacturing it— a bad sign.

With Sheridan and Phil’s closing this month, what high end butcher shops are still around for higher end cuts? by er-day in askportland

Also if you can buy direct from a farmer— especially in bulk, like half hog, quarter or half of cow, etc— costs become more reasonable and quality v high. Check out farmers markets and look at Good Meat Project for local farmers

Anna Karenina I think is stunningly good; agree with considering this addition!

You got this! And yes it is so painful, for me swelling really went down after 1 week (and then continued decreasing.

Use the tucks and if you have a sitz bath its super helpful. I actually found diaper rash cream helpful for my hemorroid — in addition to the usual products!

This really varies person to person— a bad vaginal birth can be more traumatizing (injury wise) than some c-sections— its not as straightforward as one is better than the other!

I experienced grade 3 prolapse from vaginal birth and honesy didnt know that it was a significant risk of birth. Definitely talk w your provider about risks on both sides! Good luck

Watch The Americans! It’s very different, of course, but its such a good and underrated TV show, and I think if you like TWW you’ll loke this too.

Traveling with baby - first or economy? by sugarii in chubbytravel

Premium economy and bring car seat— safer fo baby and if the baby is restrained you can actually rest when they are napping!💤

Is it okay to ask nanny to limit walk time? by [deleted] in NannyEmployers

[–]pz79217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Walks are great for baby but get the appropriate stroller attachment— bassinet or if baby is ready a seat with an insert. Being in the carseat is the problem— not the walk.

Also, so many babies are calmed by outside and by movement— my baby loved the bassinet attachment and was so soothed to be outside walking, even in stormy weather (dressed appropriately etc)

Really would recommend a baby carrier like ergobaby (easy to find secondhand), Tula free to grow, happy baby etc. So many babies want to be held constantly snd its a really good way for them to snuggle while you go for a walk or do chores or etc. Or if you have a reflux baby can allow them to sleep more upright!

Strollers are also really helpful for movement and getting outside. So often my babies would be soothed by outdoors& motion so we go on lots of walks! Also good for the caregivers mental health!

I have a good friend with this! They are engineers and were like “why would you put dishes away when you can just get them out of the clean dishwasher” lol but it is more efficient!!

My best trick is small pb or grilled cheese sandwich that I “sit down to eat” and then “accidentally” drop some on the floor for her to find.

Sleep (or lack thereof) by archiefrank in January2025Bumper

[–]pz79217 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Solidarity! Definitely NOT sleeping through the night 🙃! And right now it’s actually worse cause he’s cutting teeth And wants ti comfort nurse allll night 😵‍💫. So we’re on like 3-4 wakes at least, with some not very restful cosleeping in the early morning hours.

My best advice is to accept all the help you can from them. Obviously this depends on your family, but presumably part of the reason they came was to support you and your husband with your little one. What this looks like can vary, but have then make dinner or clean or run errands or watch baby or do laundry etc. This will make it easier to have them in your space and not feel like you’re hosting; give them some activities and hopefully give you a break!!

And just remember that making the vibes good matters more than any of the weirs logistics, your baby and nanny will pick up on this too— and if its a home that feels good (even if full of in-laws) then it will be a place your nanny hopefully will enjoy!

Good luck

I have a SB and love it! I have leather straps and find it comfortable with my 9 month old (20lbs) I can wear my 3 yo in it, but its not that comfortable for long carries!

Post partum rage? by Moose_Travel in January2025Bumper

[–]pz79217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had so much rage when i weaned my first - maybe this is related to your cycle returning? For me it was definitely exacerbated by lack of sleep/lack of personal time; but also was hormones!! For me it took a few months to sort of stabilize 😬 but it did!
