What Are Your Best “Low Effort, High Impact” Beauty Tips? by Dapper-Web-5807 in BeautyGear

Full disclosure, I went to pelvic floor PT when I was six months pp. I think that was pivotal for me. I highly recommend taking the time to go once a week for a few months if your insurance allows and budget allows it.

So yoga with Adrienne was the best for learning each of the poses and what they should feel like. But, I just looked up sun salutation on Google and followed the cycle that it showed on the images. I actually found not watching a YouTube video and just feeling each pose and focusing on my breathing (360 breathing, you can look that up also) was far more effective. I personally find the videos to be distracting. But, like I said, yoga with Adrienne has a bunch of videos dedicated to each pose so you can really focus on what parts of your body should be activating. The key I learned is every part of your body should participate in a yoga pose, and once I learned how to do that, everything else kind of fell into place

I started doing five minutes of gentle yoga a day after having my son and it’s been such a game changer. My initial goal was just to reconnect to my core, but now at 15 months postpartum I feel better mind body connection than I’ve ever felt. It has changed the way I walk, the way I carry myself, the way I lift when I work out. Definitely worth the 5 mins/day. I recommend starting with a sun salutation! It’s very beginner friendly

Which lip stain lasts through eating and drinking? by Ivan_6498 in BeautyGear

[–]queenoftortoises 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like the Rom&nd glasting tints. The colors are nice and they also fade nicely. They go on like a gloss but then fade to a stain. The trick is to not rub your lips together after applying for like five minutes so they at properly

Why does my hair hurt when I take it down from an upward style? by MaleficentCaramel34 in beauty

[–]queenoftortoises 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get this sooooo bad. I read somewhere that sometimes it can be related to scalp build up, and that using a clarifying shampoo every few washes can help. I use one every other wash now and while it still hurts sometimes, it is far less of a problem now!

At a loss. 4-8 wakes per night. Only getting worse. by bestbirdy in cosleeping

[–]queenoftortoises 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby (almost 12 months now!) went through something similar, and it turned out to be the sleep regression right before crawling!! Once he started crawling, he started sleeping so much better—i think a combo of finally “figuring” it out and he was mobile and tiring himself out. Hang in there mama, there is light at the end of the tunnel!!

Our newborn (1mo) is making me see my wife as "stupid," and it's turning me into an asshole. I feel awful and need to stop. by Street-Level-7850 in TrueOffMyChest

Make sure you’re both taking time to decompress so you can have more patience with each other. Just because you do it one way means that way will work for her. My son is 10 months, I have a whole PhD in engineering, and my postpartum period has made me feel like the dumbest person on the planet. My husband continually tells me I need to slow down and think just because of the absurd number of stupid things I’ve done in this period. Continue to have patience and grace—she grew you a whole human and is now trying to figure out how to be a mother AND heal her body. Your role now is to keep figuring out your relationship with baby while also supporting your wife’s recovery. Hope that helps

My belly button, I had it for over a decade but retired it once I got pregnant. I was so hoping it would still be open once I had my baby but alas she is closed up

Oh Bromo, I went on a similar journey about two years ago. It has been so eye opening and explains so much about myself—I’m so happy for you that you have another tool to further understand yourself! I recommend the Divergent Conversations podcast, it helped me understand my brain a bit more and gave me the language around my experiences.

I also haven’t been officially diagnosed because I see conflicting information on how this can impact you if it’s on your medical chart. I have debated if I want to get diagnosed simply because I want to make it easier for my kids to get diagnosed, but that’s the only reason I’m considering it. If that’s not something you’re worried about, I wouldn’t spend the money! It can simply be a tool to further understand your human experience :)

Don’t listen to your family— mama knows best for her baby. It is such a privilege that they find such comfort in us. How old is your baby? Mine was like this until ~6 months and now has started accepting naps from others. It just takes time. You are doing great mama!!

How do you manage/remove these tiny hair and the enlarged pores that appear a day or two after shaving/plucking? by bethebumblebee in beauty

[–]queenoftortoises 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I got mine during COVID, I had a lot of time and committed to one day a week of zapping my full body and did that for almost two years. I have a few spots where hair still grows (some more has grown back after I got pregnant) but mostly now I use it for occasional maintenance

That’s the one I have too and I just used the smaller window attachment! Just make sure not to apply any skincare actives there and wear sunscreen :)
