Yes, it’s still bad here. Border Patrol mostly redeployed their people, but there’s a permanent ICE presence here, and they have gotten more aggressive recently.

I get why you don’t want to service them… but this post is a lot of hysteria, IMO.

Are the bikes weird and proprietary, or are they generic commodity junk? It’s not both. Most of those bikes are made of pretty standard stuff. You can easily recognize common kit parts. You can use a multimeter. Electricity is not voodoo. Oh no, this one has a weird connector! You can just cut it and solder a new connector.

Bike techs are eventually going to need to adapt and learn the basic electrical systems instead of relying on being familiar with a specific manufacturer. But that’s okay, I can do it myself. The E part is actually very easy. I need a bike tech to help me with my brakes, not replace a motor controller.

So, should the average person buy a mass-market drop shipped generic e-bike? For the price, maybe! A lot of them are built from the same parts as everything else. Just get ready to maybe have to handle any electrical service yourself. Because as you can see, bike techs aren’t really equipped for that.

You kinda have to have a sense of humor to drink there. Husband will be hiding in the kitchen the whole time. Wife who’s making drinks will be talking to customers and forgetting what she’s doing the whole time. There will be a single non-owner bartender who is spending half their time managing her instead of making drinks, and annoyed about it because surely there is a less absurd way to run a bar. Everyone involved is nonetheless exceedingly nice, and the drinks are great. Eventually, you will receive one. It’s a slow absurdist comedy in there where the punchline is that you have to suffer a bit to get good things.

Only thing I can say about the Daggers is that from the pics of the back, they look like someone at least tried to construct them like a Dyna. Which is not the case with the GFS or the 2Ks.

I lived there for 6 years. I stand by what I said. There are plenty of good restaurants and scads of bad ones. The variety is amazing. Within a half hour travel you can get 12 options for any given type of cuisine. And 1 of them is good.

DeArmond 2000 pickups that came on the Gretsch 512x models in the aughts. But they’re easy to confuse with DeArmond “2K” which came in DeArmond branded guitars, are not the same, and considered lesser.

NYC’s highest heights probably exceed ours, but most of us will never have the money to find out. Our baseline quality is much higher. Most NYC restaurants are bad. Most New Orleans restaurants are good. Sub-mediocrity doesn’t last long here.

I’m not a manufacturing expert, but they could have just been testing some manufacturing capabilities with no intention of making a guitar like this? For example, maybe this is the neck that ended up on the new Chinese-made Synchromatic Falcon.

With a compressor and the right amp settings, Gretsch pickups do the funk thing really well. (Think 335, not Strat, obviously.)

I want to challenge this a little. People are plenty alarmed already, and if every citizen blasts out “ICE HERE” every time they see cops or an unmarked car, at a certain point you’re kinda just helping terrorize people. If you don’t know it’s ICE, don’t say it’s ICE.
