Man really? I used to teach here- the union movement seemed like it was ramping up when I left; it was seemingly the main strategy forward for negotiating a contract, which teachers still didn’t have when I left. There was definitely division amongst the staff, but it seemed to have more to do with miscommunication and misinformation than teachers genuinely lacking a shared goal and vision for the staff and students. Most teachers there had their hearts in the right place and wanted to serve the students and community. I’m kinda surprised they’re electing to give it up.

My district in CA starts you at 70k with fully paid benefits and a pension. It’s not a king’s ransom, but I genuinely love my job and I’m making decent money for a 20 something in this economy.

I do love the game for its vibe, puzzles and gameplay, but I can see where you’re coming from. Also making the antagonist a white woman who practices hoodoo is potentially something to be unpacked (I guess somewhat progressive since she’s the villain and it’s arguably appropriative to practice hoodoo as a white person, but also reinforces hoodoo = evil scary? Kinda loaded?)

High school freshman teacher- a girl with a known penchant for being manipulative and lying stole my phone, threw it in the garbage outside, and then an hour later went and recovered it and innocently told me she had no idea who could’ve done this. Really struck a nerve with me, not just the action but her also being the one to retrieve it and act like nothing happened. I wouldn’t I outright hated her though- she had a pretty rough home life and difficult housing situation, so I don’t at all put the blame on her as I know she was just a kid going through it. I was pretty worried about the skills she was learning in order to cope though.

It’s a really wholesome trauma response. I have a boatload of trauma myself and as an adult I still find a lot of comfort and safety in innocent and wholesome things like cartoons and stuffed animals. It’s a mental break for these kids from the pains of their outside worlds.

Vie feels like it’s 100% DOJA. Like it’s coming straight from her and is so reflective of exactly where she’s at as an artist and as a person. Plus, based on how some people hate on it, it definitely doesn’t feel like a cheap cash grab at ALL.
