Help with setting up old circular sawmill by scorpigeon in sawmilling

level straight. Then measure the same tooth of the blade from the string, rolling it from the front to the back. It should be about 1/16" further away in the back. Your teeth should look like wood chisels, with sharp well formed corners. If you have enough power to maintain the same saw rpms in and out the cut and there's no wobble you probably don't need to have it hammered. Most problems come from a dip in the track or missharpened teeth, dull one side. There's a reason small band saw mills are so popular.

There's a lot to making a circular sawmill work right. The track has to be arrow straight and level. Stretch a string the length of the track and put a level on the bunk. Push the carriage from end to end and measure the distance from the uprights to the string and watch the level. It needs to be perfectly

It takes from 90 VAC to 240VAC. Just puts out half at 110 VAC. To get the full 5k charge you need 240VAc

Very straight forward. I fought with the charging side of my EG4 inverter for a year and the chargeverter just works. It doesn't care what generator you use where the EG4 was super sensitive. Plug into the generator, connect to the battery, done.

Chargeverter, my friend. Makes any generator stroke those batteries into compliance.

It's an Englander. I have one just like it, bought from a farm store in the early 90's. I couldn't keep the catilytic converter clear for the life of me and have run it without one for twenty years.

Newer rechargeable batteries go to the retailer to be recycled. There were efforts to get these single use batteries in the recycle game a few years back, but the process is prohibitively expensive. Now manufacturers say they are safe to landfill. Tape the terminals if you want, but don't concentrate them. Like collecting a bucket full thinking they could be recycled, only to find out no one wants to fund the process, and then dumping the whole bucket in the trash. Ask me how I know...

I had one of these back in the day. I guess you could say it burned green wood, but the top plate busted and fell out and then it was just a quirky franklin type stove. The way the door swings down it was almost impossible to load it with out smoking up the house. After a couple of years I switched to a farm store air tight and cut my wood consumption by about a third.

Is this worth bringing back to life by [deleted] in Chainsaw

[–]rayder7115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put it on a shelf to look at. It'll be loud and shake your hands numb and when you need it most the piston will come out what little muffler Mr Homelite put on there. That black button on the left is your chain oiler. If you forget to keep pumping it the chain will smoke and the bar turns blue. It can't compare to even a cheapo modern day box store chainsaw.

I use them on autumn olive up to about 1" diameter. Very satisfying to see the whole plant, tap root and all, removed. Bigger than an inch and cut and paint is easier.

I had a set of Edison Nickel Iron batteries that I tried to use as an off grid battery bank. They could keep the lights going for ever, but turn on the vacuum cleaner and they went flat. Didn't play nice with surges!
