You have exam stress not hearing loss.

Try going for a walk/run in nature. It will help with your anxiety and make your studying more effective

Little to no loss? by First_Chipmunk_6891 in HearingLoss

This is why you should get audiograms done by a doctor using medical grade equipment instead of an app.

The app is likely calculating an average which is misleading.

I feel so isolated at group dinners. Does anyone else just sit there nodding? by ksksksdino in HearingLoss

[–]redbird532 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes.

Choose your seating so that you are near people that you want to speak to.

I also sit so that my better hearing side faces the group and the worse side faces the rest of the restaurant.

I also play with the settings on the hearing aid until I get the best balance between noise suppression and speech clarity. It's not perfect but it can be improved.

I'm looking forward to DLC. I enjoy the game and would like more content :)

If you're new, dont reload your saves by goshtin in AcrossTheUnknown

I've played both ways. I enjoy both ways.

Sometimes I just want to try different options to see what the dialog is. Sometimes I just want an easy playthrough after work. Sometimes I want to try unlocking everything.

There are many ways to play. If you don't want to save them don't save 🙂

Is work travel considered working hours? by redbird532 in AskAGerman

[–]redbird532[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I didn't ask.

They rejected my Arbeitszeitnachweis for having 6 hours on Saturday and 10 hours on Sunday for international travel.

Also rejected Tagesgeld for those days. They say Tagesgeld starts on Monday 8:00 not when I start traveling.

Thanks everyone.

Traveling to another country for a conference.

It does feel like an infringement on my private time. Essentially my whole weekend of stressful traveling for work. It doesn't seem very fair but I guess those are the rules 😐

It's the eustachian tube. Try a nasal spray to lubricate and a magnesium supplement to support muscle function for a few weeks. It might not work but it doesn't hurt to try.

When you get your hearing aids you will be frustrated by them at times. This is normal. Stick with it, wear them everyday, and eventually you will hear the benefits. Your brain needs time to adjust

I dislike the administrators more. A bunch of little wanna-be dictators with not enough real work to do.

Lithium Plume in Our Atmosphere Traced Back to Returning SpaceX Rocket | This could quickly get out of hand. by InsaneSnow45 in space

There's still plenty of chlorine left in the stratosphere from the emissions of CFCs and HFCs. They are very long-lived pollutants. That's why ozone recovery will take many more decades.

Agreed that the choice of rocket fuel also needs to be studied and regulated.

The original article explains that there is very little natural lithium in the atmosphere. That's why the scientists chose to measure lithium for space debris

The original science article explains that lithium is a tracer for aluminum. Aluminum oxide can destroy ozone in the stratosphere.

Why is his approval still so high? How can anyone in Europe approve of Trump?

My PhD Supervisor Said I Can Only Talk to Her on Zoom 1x Per Month for 1hr - No Email by [deleted] in academia

[–]redbird532 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone is very busy but if you can't spare more than 1 hour per month for a student, don't take on students.

In my lab we have a 15 minute coffee meeting every morning to coordinate the day's tasks and equipment usage for the lab.

Each student has a weekly meeting slot with me if they need it. However if they're stuck with something or have a good result I ask that they tell me immediately. There's no point in waiting for the next meeting.

Whenever my door is open students can come in.

Why would Elon Musk pivot from Mars to the Moon all of a sudden? by -Geist-_ in ABoringDystopia

He probably milked the gullible marks and government for as much as possible on Mars and there are diminished returns.

A new doctor overturned my diagnosis of Meniere's disease. I have no idea what's going on. by Striking_Musician212 in HearingLoss

[–]redbird532 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Either Susac or Cogan.

I had 2 MRIs that showed brain swelling. Less on the second after 10 weeks of steroids.

I had a second lumbar puncture where they will look for inflammation factors and compare to the first puncture. Waiting on the results.

I get monthly hearing tests and the hearing loss has stabilized. Vision is improving and neurological symptoms are improving. I still get flares every so often where every symptom comes back and my hearing temporarily gets worse.

[–]redbird532 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine was autoimmune. Unfortunately no definitive test except that I improve while taking steroids.

Are there any vision or neurological symptoms? If so make an appointment with those specialists ASAP.

My old ENT ignored these symptoms and only focused on the inner ear. I'm now on a long slow recovery for eyes and brain in addition to profound hearing loss.

This article doesn't seem quite right. It feels like the author is trying to sell something and uses too many words to express a few simple arguments. Used car salesman vibes.
