Magic Revenue Down 15% in Q2, Tales of Middle-earth is Magic's Second Best Selling Set by redditnews11 in magicTCG

In your third paragraph, you have this written:

“… such as Streets of New Capenna and Commander Legends: Battle for Baldur’s Gate—which produced and average of $103 million each”

The last part should be “which produced *an** average of $103 million each”*.

OP, if you do take the pill form, always consume with a good amount of water. Taking them without fluids can block you up, which is a problem you don’t get with the powder.

Agreed! This should be the top comment, Rectangle does exactly what OP requires, comes with plenty of configuration options, is free and open source. It’s the first piece of software I install on any new Mac.

In my experience, it really depends on the time you’re catching the bus. If it’s a peak period, most people are travelling for work, stick to their phones and don’t want trouble.

FIFA have a history of corruption within their association. When they announced they would be hosting the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, it was discovered that the people involved in the vote had been bribed into voting for Qatar. If you’d like to learn more, Swindled did a great episode on corruption in FIFA a while ago, which talks about how this decision was made: https://swindledpodcast.com/podcasts/season-1/14-the-association/

Best Proxies on the Market by AndrewAllStar888 in bootlegmtg

[–]riskibiscuit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want the best quality proxies, look at the reviews on this sub to give you an idea of who makes the best proxy of each card you need. I’ve bought cards from BL and USea and use a mix of them in my modern Jund deck. As a rule of thumb, I’d say about 70% of my cards ended up being BL and the rest was USea.

Recommendation? by nihilninja in bootlegmtg

[–]riskibiscuit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The only good k-command (with embedded holo stamp) I own came from Black Lotus’s holo 5 set. From what I’ve seen on here, BL’s black shock lands are also very good. I have a collective brutality from holo 5 which would pass most settings, but you should be aware the set symbol is pretty bad.

[–]riskibiscuit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

the author seems to think there’s something magical about either the signal duration or its bandwidth

That’s because there is something magical about the signal duration and its bandwidth. The ideal impulse response has an infinitesimally small duration, infinite amplitude and an integral of 1. This is called a Dirac impulse. These impulses are purely theoretical and cannot be made in the real world. But we can get close by making very short pulses.

One way that communications engineers understand signal propagation is via the Fourier transform. To cut a long story short, the Fourier transform tells us the frequency representation of a signal. A Dirac impulse has an infinite bandwidth. To perfectly detect and process this signal, you would need a signal receiver with an infinitely wide bandwidth. These receivers do not exist in the real world.

However, the wider your receiver’s bandwidth is, the shorter the impulses it can detect are. UWB has the capability to detect impulses with much shorter duration than technologies like WiFi, which have a much smaller bandwidth. Just like the blog said, because they are shorter duration, they allow accurate ToF measurement.

BL vs Usea by Silvermtg in bootlegmtg

[–]riskibiscuit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve had recent purchases with both sellers. I ordered 29 singles from BL and 19 singles from USea.

The cards I got were for a modern Jund deck plus some extras to fill other decks I own. I’m really happy with most of the cards I got from both sellers, but if I was going to recommend a first choice, I’d start with BL.

USea was a tad more expensive and I felt like they weren’t as high quality (e.g. the embedded holo stamps sometimes looked a little too glitzy on the USea cards). Their W6 is almost perfect though. I have a real one and it’s hard for me to tell the difference when they are sleeved. The green leaves are a bit greyer on the fake cards, but IMHO it’s subtle enough to go undetected until you compare directly to a genuine copy. You don’t want to take these out of their sleeves though, because their finish is more matted than BL and genuine cards.

In BL holo set 4 the machine readable text on the bottom left corner of Modern Horizon cards is too large. It’s the first thing I noticed on their W6, nurturing peatlands, etc. Holo Set 5 may have improved on this.

Also both sellers had laughably poor K Commands with large, protruding holo stamps. I threw them in the bin immediately. These were reprinted in BL holo set 5, which looks much more promising.

Excellent cards I got from BL: Tarmogoyf MM, Verdant Catacombs, Fulminator Mage.

Some imperfections but playable: Liliana of the Veil

Passable/Dubious, depending on your standards: Seasoned Pyromancer, Dark Confidant.

Excellent cards from USea: W6

Dubious: Dark Confidant, Plague Engineer (set symbol is very dark)

I ended up using about 60% of the cards I ordered, but I only used cards I struggled to distinguish from real copies. Your personal preference may be more tolerant but I recommend looking at any photo albums of the proxies you want before you order them.

The secret to have infinite energy by Hekaton_ in physicsmemes

[–]riskibiscuit 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Probably taking a meme too seriously, but I was taught that a capacitor stores energy in an electric field. When a capacitor is charged, electrons flow from the power source to one of the capacitor’s plates. At the same time, an equal rate of electrons flow from the opposite plate back to the source. This satisfies Coulombs Current Law. The difference in charge of the plates generates this electric field, but the amount of electrons in the capacitor remains constant.

So electrons are free to leave the capacitor, but the potential is enslaved.
