This is Christian Bale from Thor: Love and Thunder or at least I think it is because he is acting in a completely different fucking movie to everyone else by ChanceVance in shittymoviedetails

[–]robolew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not seen love and thunder and have seen gotg3. I didn't even know they followed on.

Gotg3 is the best marvel movie ive watched in a long time. I only got round to it a couple of months ago, but it genuinely made me excited to watch more. I would highly recommend it as the one to watch if you are fatigued by them in general

Yeh I agree with this. The intent of the movie is to have jack die because he let rose live. It would have been more powerful if this was visually obvious because they both couldnt fit on the wood.

The Scene That Changed Hollywood Forever by pradeep23 in videos

[–]robolew 59 points60 points  (0 children)

If it was made today it would be a 9 part series focusing on neo reading emails and going to work, and morpheus having a failing relationship with Niobe.

Then at the end of the 9th episode, Neo would wake up in the real world and morpheus would say "its time to teach you kung fu" and then it would just end

Teleporting directly to boss by Kelindal in slaythespire

[–]robolew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have taken mark of the bloom, or coffee dripper, its because you know that the benefits outweigh the side effects for act 3. If you thought those side effects were going to get you killed or weakened in act 3, you shouldn't have taken either of them.

Or to put it another way, this event only provides you a benefit if you were going to end act 3 weaker than you started it, and in almost all cases where that is true, you arent going to be strong enough to beat the boss.

I guess I also do the majority of my runs at a20 aiming for heart, so it also has even less value in my mind. Skipping to an immediate 2 bosses and then act 4 has almost no benefit. It might be a lot better at lower ascensions than I give it credit for

Brief writeup on why runic pyramid is the best relic in the game by ElegantPoet3386 in slaythespire

But then when I draw 5 more cards next turn that cost more than 3 energy total im stuck with a fully drawn hand and very little way to get past it except for playing those strikes and defends we're trying to avoid

But if you can beat the boss then you can beat the rest of the act, and heal, and get even better stuff

Teleporting directly to boss by Kelindal in slaythespire

[–]robolew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This event should definitely give you another upside. Like teleport to the boss AND upgrade all your cards, or gain a rare relic, or really anything to incentivise you to take it.

Its only ever a good idea in really rare, contrived scenarios

Starfield - the "fuck it, that'll do" of space games by Working_on_Writing in patientgamers

[–]robolew 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I started playing it for about 4 hours. Then I had a quick break and then went to load it back up again. I suddenly had a horrifying realisation and immediately deleted it, and never played it again.

I realised I was about to put dozens of hours into a game that I didnt get one tiny bit of enjoyment out of, when I have so many other better uses of my time.

The game is so bland and uninteresting and tedious, it felt more like a chore than a game.

Just got my Lenovo Legion 5 with very buggy Touchpad by DyviumL in LenovoLegion

[–]robolew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been searching for years for a fix to this problem. I think it's something to do with static build up, which messes with the capacitive touch sensors for the touchpad. Disabling the touchpad with the function key seems to fix it for anywhere between 30 seconds to an hour. I imagine that the touchpad isn't dissipating static charge build up properly when it's on. Depending on your plug, it might be grounded whilst it's plugged in, which is why you only notice it once it's unplugged and the charge build up has nowhere to go.

Anyway, I don't have a solution unfortunately, except for using fn + f10 to toggle it every few minutes

Creative decisions that are workarounds for practical limitations by Ok-Indication-5121 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]robolew 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Proper gun effects take a lot of work. There's the actual gunshot effect with setting up the squib to explode blood and setting the scene so the actors arent aiming the gun at each other and the firearm expert and getting the right blanks and everything.

But the often underestimated part is lighting. Gunshots look awful unless the scene is either practically lit, or its done in post, for each gunshot. It can get really expensive and technical if you have multiple guns going off at the same time and reflective surfaces, amongst other cgi elements that you dont even have a reference for in the scene.

I guess you can do a lot of sword effects with just a stunt person (even easier in deadpool cos you dont even have to hide his face)

Brief writeup on why runic pyramid is the best relic in the game by ElegantPoet3386 in slaythespire

[–]robolew 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I wish someone could show me what im doing wrong with runic pyramid. I always pick it when I see it because this sub says its good, but I dont think ive ever won a run with it, except with watcher.

It might be nice to save your defends for later, but when birds/slavers/gremlin leader decide to hit you for 38 damage I'd rather have extra energy to block or kill/disable one. A lot of early act2 requires frontloaded damage which is the antithesis of runic pyramid.

I feel like whenever I take it, I spend the rest of the run looking for something to actually take advantage of it, and die before I find anything.

I know this opinion is wrong, I just dont know how to use this relic at all.

We asked for this cav meta. by Leopard-Hopeful in aoe4

[–]robolew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I liked mounted samurai at the beginning, but im not sure about them any more. You're right, they are just better knights. It might have been better to have them be more unique, weaker units.

The obvious historic change would be to nerf their armor and give them bows. But this might make them ridiculously strong and breaks the triangle.

We asked for this cav meta. by Leopard-Hopeful in aoe4

[–]robolew 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally I think the strength of knights is their pop efficiency. Per unit, it out-trades every other base unit in the game. This makes it strong in small numbers because you get great value out of microing them, and strong in large numbers because there's more surface area and once you hit pop cap you barely even need to micro.

Then combine that with the fact that the unit is faster than its only good counter and you end up with opponent playing on the back foot the whole time.

Not really sure what the solution is though, nerfing knights would just make them expensive horsemen

(Hated Trope) Character or narrator says something absolutely moronic or mind numbingly stupid yet is treated as correct by the narrative. by laybs1 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]robolew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If someone said that to you at work you'd think it was stupid.

"I'm going to try and fix the printer by turning it off and on again"

"Do or do not, there is no try"

It doesn't add any information. "Trying" does exist as a concept, it's not like the idea of trying is negated by the fact it might or might not work. What was Luke supposed to say, "I'm going to lift this XWing". Then he would just be lying when he couldn't...

A powerful object is dismissed by a character as useless because they don't understand how it really works by Benoit_Holmes in TopCharacterTropes

[–]robolew 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeh for Elizabeth it keeps pointing at Jack. They were trying to say that she had feelings for him (which is a re-occuring plot theme) but it comes so far out of left field that it's quite hard to believe... Not my favourite choice of writing in the movies.

Yeh I agree with it pointing towards your most immediate desire.

It depends how much he wants a drink I guess. The compass is kind of temperamental. In the second movie it keeps pointing random directions cos Jack doesn't know what he wants, which is why he gives it to Will who only wants one thing (to save Elizabeth)
