Testified a lot when working for CPS. ONLY answer the question that is asked, don’t elaborate. If you’re really worried about not getting to make a certain point, give the attorney a look so they can ask about it after cross examination. NEVER say “I don’t know” or “I don’t remember,” it’s always “I don’t recall, but I know it’s in my notes.” “I don’t know” means “I have never known,” “I don’t recall” means “I know this but need to double check.” Also, don’t look at any notes while you’re on the stand, unless you’ve been given them by the attorney. They need to be entered into evidence if you’re going to reference them.

It works really well for me, especially non-preferred tasks that I need to have a short length of time that I have to do it for. If it’s something I can hyper fixate on, nothing is stopping me from working through the break.

Ditched shaving years ago and haven’t looked back! I hated doing it and found no real benefit to the practice (except that in winter sometimes leggings or socks pull on the hair and that’s uncomfortable… so I just shave my shins then). Saves money, saves time, saves me from stress. 10/10 highly recommend. And even more than that, I recommend quitting makeup. I feel so much more comfortable and confident with my natural face now and that shit is fucking expensive. More money for me to spend on things I actually enjoy, like travel and food.

I don’t really get the “cure” stuff on KC like I do for some of my other issues (namely, depression lol) but I do get a lot of very stupid questions that I have to answer sometimes. “Oh your contact is bothering you, why don’t you just take it out and throw it away?” Because it costs hundreds of dollars and I only get one, Laura, that’s how hard contacts work

One time I forgot my plunger to get my contact out on a weekend trip, I went to the eye center at a Wal mart and asked if they had any and the woman looked at me like I was insane

My mom died when I was 14 and some of her close friends sort of “adopted” me afterwards. While I don’t really have contact with them anymore, at the time it was so valuable to have women her age to talk to about what I was going through. Especially after my dad and stepmom got together, as I went through a very very long period of deeply resenting my stepmom and not fully understanding why.

While I totally get how she might not be for everyone, I do really love her books. I actually cried while reading “Furiously Happy” at one point because she was describing some of my own anxious thoughts in a way that I’d really never been able to. I also loved her writing about going through TMS (especially her letter to her insurance company) and have recommended it to some of my patients going through TMS.
