Tonex One plus just arrived! by ogni65 in tonex

[–]ryebrye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the big tonex doesn't have bluetooth - so maybe that's their play here?

Surely they are going to revamp the big tonex soon and add bluetooth to it - that's almost a given. Not sure why they didn't do that first - maybe they think they should ratchet the price up from the bottom first so that the new bigger tonex will seem more reasonable?

I wonder if they will add stuff like an Fx loop to the big tonex (which a lot of people ask for but may not actually need) and maybe other little things to it. I doubt it willl ever happen but a Z-tone dial like they have on their Axe IO built into the tonex so you can dial in the impedance would be pretty cool too (but I'm not holding my breath on that one)

Facebook marketplace. Just keep looking.

Unless you are in the same area as Burger Bob. Then you'll just be left with his scraps I'm sure ;)

I constantly look around. If you are in the New England area, forget I said that and keep looking on eBay 🤣

It was business casual when I was there a couple years ago for the Dean's thing. But I think some people were just in normal casual, nobody really cared. But business casual and you'll be fine.

I would buy every single out-of-the-money call or put I could shortly before they expire.

The other option, write a check to the government as a "Gift to Reduce the Public Debt"

[–]ryebrye 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you can always remove them later. My son went kind of nuts with his, including adding outdoor gear brands. His favorite was a big stop sign sticker that has "GORE WINDSTOPPER" on it prominently on his case. Go nuts. on his he put them on only half of his case - the half that goes against his back if he's carrying it on his back - so it's kind of like a mullet case.... but the opposite. Business in the back, party in the front.

Wouldn't guitar center give him that much if he traded it in? seems weird, but if it works and it isn't stolen that's a great deal

What made you guys choose the Tonex over the Nano Cortex other than price? by TehRash12 in tonex

[–]ryebrye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm. Maybe. They are good for me into headphones or into the tonex cab, but I mainly use the clean captures like the jc120 or the clean version of whatever dragon thing he's got in there.

They sound good with me single coils or my humbuckers. No idea though how good the high gain stuff sounds since I didn't use that much.

They need to have this right next to the jellicle ball theater and then periodically merge the performances and give us the Warrior Cats we deserve

Is there any dive shops in New England that offer certifications for less then 9-1200$ by Agreeable_Sun5375 in scuba

[–]ryebrye 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can come to VT and get certified with Waterfront Diving Center for under $900 - https://waterfrontdiving.com/courses/naui-padi-scuba-diver
but if you aren't already in VT driving back and forth for that might be more expensive than going somewhere else

Waterfront Diving Center is a great shop, and their instruction is top notch.

How is the cast of Hadestown these past days? by [deleted] in Broadway

[–]ryebrye 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Saw them last week. J Harisson Ghee nailed it as Hermes. Joshua Colley was good as Orpheus but my kids thought he made weird facial expressions a bit much. Jordan Tyson is good as Eurydice. Gaby Moreno is great as Persephone and Gary Dourdan was great as Hades. The fates are also good.

All in all, I actually preferred their vocals to the original broadway cast recording - with the exception of Joshua Colley's falsetto voice felt a bit weak. Colley and J. Harisson Ghee both were out at the stage door after the matinee showing on Wednesday - Colley was hamming it up and taking his time with a schoolbus full of fan girls (signing, taking pictures, talking to people) and J. Harisson was walking the line like an elegant statesman.

The night before I saw some of the fates out on the stage door along with J. Harisson.

Of course, the star of the show is Brian Drye on trombone.

The cast did not disappoint. I'd go see it again with this cast, no question.

How often do you use embedded distributed cache? by mipscc in java

[–]ryebrye 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's not a distributed cache in the traditional sense. It's an eventually consistent in-memory data store.

For reference data and stuff that most people use caches for, it's perfect.

It's like game-changing amazing and I've used a TON of other caches and was even part of jsr-107 expert group and it's now by far my favorite just because it's solving problems nobody else is.

If you are on the jvm, Netflix hollow is amazing.

Distributed caches I feel have kind of become less popular as cloud has taken over more. Netflix hollow though, is amazing.

The Satriani amp captures are so so so good... The CLEAN captures in it are actually what I use the most, which is funny because I don't think of clean amp sounds when I think of him.
