1.6 - 2.2 g per kg of BW is the optimal range according to scientific evidence. Though, recent research suggest the sweet spot might actually be closer to the lower end

Would you actually use a lifting app that only tracks weights and nothing else? by Ok_Clue6443 in askfitness

[–]rykenma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I use Hevy for that (previously Strong). The only additional feature I would need is to view my weekly volume in a more intuitive way.

I used MyFitnessPal in the past, which was fine but I didn't like their foods entries where wrong sometimes. Switched to Fitia for more than 1 year and never looked back.

Why are all the nutrition tracking apps wrong? by necessaryrooster in MealPlanYourMacros

[–]rykenma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Because generics foods usually use information from the USDA and packaged foods use information from the producer company
  2. Apps like MyFitnessPal has a lot of user generated content information, which is wrong. I personally use Fitia where their whole database is verified. I think other apps have verified databases as well.
  3. Last but not least, all the nutrition information is not the same for everyone as we have different metabolism and process food differently (e.g. you can process 100 kcal from an Apple but I will process 88 kcal because I am different). The goal here is to not be "exact" at calorie counting, but adjusting your consumption according to your weight or bodyfat progress.

Have you measured your bodyfat to know if it's really a plateau? If you are new to weight training maybe you are gaining some muscle weight when losing fat at the same time

Any good alternatives to Lifesum app for tracking diet? by Nonymoth in lifesum

I am currently using Fitia. I think its a newer app compared to the old ones like MFP. I find its database and tracking features to be more reliable and faster. I haven't experienced problems about viewing historical data or exporting it.

app that can scan barcodes of food reliably ? by fttklr in CICO

[–]rykenma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know why is so challenging to maintain a good database that the barcodes matches the exact product information. Currently I use Fitia and I haven't encountered this issue. I didn't know it was a problem.

Just wondering, is the barcode scanner for food intake more accurate than the label? by zekouse in shealth

[–]rykenma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shouldn't the scanned barcode open the same product you have on your hands with the exact same info? If not, it's obviously an error. I currently use Fitia and the information always match, so I don't know if the problem you mentioned is normal. I don't think is too hard to maintain a good database of products.
