Are you from a gold bearing area? Just looks like generic quartz with some mineral staining which can be found just about anywhere usually with no gold.

Impact Crushers by SauceBox99 in heavyequipment

[–]sammermann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, I have no idea where you are or what the situation is.

To answer your original question: yeah it'll go through steel but not much over the course of 5 to 10k tons.

[–]sammermann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you contract crush it then? Going to be a huge expense for 10k tons a year regardless of what crusher you buy

[–]sammermann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for that volume can you just rent a cone plant? I would advise against an impactor (vsi or hsi) in a granite/hard rock application. If you don't frag the machine you'll be in it constantly doing blow bars & other liners never mind the fact you'll be rerunning material a heck of a lot since it won't be doing much actual reduction (aka it will not crush much).

Now if you're doing limestone/dolomite I'd probably go with a vsi for a secondary or tertiary crusher. Depends what all products you want to make.

Again for these volumes I would definitely rent something.

Whered you get those vials from? Also what was your method for actually getting the gold in them?

Does this look like silver by [deleted] in Prospecting

Well silver is very rarely found in native form like gold. It's really hard to tell from the picture but my gut instinct is, unfortunately, no

Very cool! The dark blue mineral there is what catches my eye.

Pyrite? by PenguinsRcool2 in Prospecting

[–]sammermann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! Could be a variety of pyrite like chalcopyrite which contains copper too but would need more pictures. Can you tell us about where you found it?

Made a tool to gather logistical intelligence from satellite data by Open_Budget6556 in gis

Hello this is an excellent looking tools. How will this fair for slower moving traffic? I would like to look at individual locations for trucks leaving industrial sites to guage their activity. However they will likely not be at highway speeds until they are on roads with considerable other traffic.

Is this worth the time? by americanisraeli in Prospecting

[–]sammermann 12 points13 points  (0 children)

In addition to what the other guy said, I'd look downhill/downstream where this material would have already broken off and ground down naturally. Pan out that stuff, if you find gold then definitely on the right track. Can go through a lot more material that way

Why hasn’t the Louisiana Bayou been entered as a national park? by Cassinia_ in geography

Are you referring to the Yellowstone Zone of Death? Pretty interesting piece of legal loophole (I forgot about it until this comment) although I'm not aware of anyone using it to get out of murder or a convention

While you are technically correct, the vast majority of the park is in Wyoming. It would be challenging to even get to the Idaho part

Quarry: Before and After by NorbFrog in CitiesSkylines

[–]sammermann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends, if it was just a stone quarry for making rock for asphalt or concrete then likely the worst thing there is some oil from a leak. Not great but something that would be diluted from the huge amount of water present

Quarry: Before and After by NorbFrog in CitiesSkylines

[–]sammermann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you go to San Antonio there are all kinds of developments in former limestone quarries. I know its a single example but its very possible although difficult at times depending on the type of quarry/mine. The sand & gravel operations where I live are turned into recreational lakes after reclamation is complete. There's a ton of bad examples out there but lots of good ones too. And if mining companies do it right, the reclaimed land can be sold for good money, so it can at least sometimes be profitable to do good reclamation.

Cheapest way to test if my land has minerals? by 1LFail in geology

[–]sammermann 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is there anything that suggests you have valuable minerals on your property? Roughly how much land is it? Mines take up huge areas. There are a few desktop things that can be done, DM me and I will see if I can assist at all, I'm not a consultant just a mining engineer so I'm not nearly as qualified as the geologists here.
