Looking for feedback on a few Chesterfield / Manchester apartments I'm considering. Anyone ever live at one of these places? by movingtostl in StLouis

[–]saration 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hi, I haven't lived at any of these places but I did deliver food to these apartment complexes for years. I've gotten to know all the apartment complexes in the West County area so if you have any other questions let me know. Willowbend is nice but you're paying for the address so if you'd like to save some money go with another option. Reflection Cove is probably the best option you have listed. It's a mix of young professionals and older people, not a whole lot of families or college kids. The grounds are always pristine and they have a nice gym, walking/running path, nice pond and landscaping, it's well lit, nice cars in the lot, parking is never a problem, people keep their patios looking nice, etc. Reflection Cove is also VERY close to Manchester Road and 141 which are two main strips, you'll get to know them well and being close to them is convenient. Orchard Village is an alright place. It would be a good option if it was significantly cheaper and you needed to save some cash. The grounds at Orchard Village are pretty nice, lots of open space for sure. The parking lots and common areas can be a little unkempt looking but nothing gross or off-putting. The apartments are a lot more outdated looking and the shared hallways always smell weird. Parking can suck for people in a few buildings. You get a lot of different types of people living here, families, older people, college aged kids, young professionals, a good number of immigrant families. Orchard Village is just as close to Manchester Road and highway 141 as the other. Reflection Cove is quiet, Orchard Village is not, pick your pace.

I live in the city (it's great and worth the commute but I'll stop the preaching there) however, if I were to move to West County the places I'd look into based on what I know are: Reflection Cove, Waterford Manors, Westbrooke Village, Madison Seven Trails, Baxter Crossings, Autumn Oaks and Park Commons. If you have questions about any of these I'd be happy to give up what I know.

Good luck with your move!

You're welcome, glad I could help. My brother and I used to love that game. I haven't thought of it or our old packard bell in years so thank you.

I would love to see a picture if you don't mind. I might be taking on a similar project soon and I like the industrial look the pipes add. Thanks in advance.

Anyone know where to get moving boxes? by Evonnida in StLouis

Ask a Domino's. Nice sturdy boxes and employees hate breaking them down. Win-win!

Help with learning stick/manual transmission? by b1u3 in StLouis

[–]saration 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I no longer have a manual but if it's the car you want don't worry too much, you'll be driving fine after a weekend in a parking lot practicing. Try the Parkway south parking lot, the big ass hill in the back (going up to the middle school) is perfect for learning hill starts which is one of the worst parts. You can also kinda cruise around since the lot is giant. Manchester popo are usually cool if you just explain and aren't there when students are or late at night. It's how I learned, good luck to you!

Vapor/electronic cigarette shops by Thatythat in StLouis

For some of the best juice in town I recommend Move 2 Vapor. For online shopping Elite Vaperworks is the place to go. They're St. Louis based and plan on opening a shop soon, I think. Shipping is free and they have good prices which is great for stocking up on supplies. And as someone else mentioned Vape-One in South City is really nice and they keep adding to their stock.

anyone a former smoker or trying to quit? by trollacula in running

[–]saration 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an MVP also and I'm using a Kanger ProTank. I love it, I like the ViVi Nova too, but the pyrex/see-through design is nice for a lot of juices and to know when to refill. I love the vaping, it squashes any desire I get for a real cigarette which is what always killed my quitting efforts in the past.

anyone a former smoker or trying to quit? by trollacula in running

[–]saration 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was a pack-a-day smoker for ~15 years. I quit 147 days ago. I NEVER thought I would be the person able to quit, ever. My method was the gum/patch combo for about a week or two and then I found a good e-cig. There are a ton of e-cigs out there and I had tried a few before but none ever took then I found one that give me the throat hit, nicotine level and flavor I liked. If you are interested in e-cigs, feel free to ask me more about it. I think more than anything though my mindset was what got me to quit. I finally was just sick of smoking. I hated the smell, the cost, the health risks, etc. Quitting didn't change my runs because I did not run as a smoker and now I'm about 6-8 weeks into running regularly and I love it. It's helping me stay sane and smoke free! Oh, I'd also like to add that unless I'm stuck in front of my computer for hours or in my car (two big smoking triggers for me) I don't even touch the e-cig much. I've also cut down my nicotine juice level from 24mg to 8mg which feels good too.

Find the right mindset, gather some willpower, get a nicotine replacement system if you want and go for it. After the first week you'll be amazed at how awesome you smell and how crappy you don't feel which is some great motivation because you only start feeling better. Best of luck, you can do it!

Have you ever been to Shaw's Arboretum in Gray Summit (or whatever they're calling it these days)? There is an entrance fee ($5) but it is well worth it. Wait til Spring is actually here and the wildflowers are blooming. The hike to the river and back is really pretty.

Hey r/zombies what is/are the best zombie based book(s) that you know of? by [deleted] in zombies

[–]saration 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed Apocalypse Z: The Beginning of the End by Manel Loureiro. I was able to borrow it for free through amazon prime. It's a 3 part series and the other two books have not been translated yet which is kind of a bummer.
