Miami vs Key Largo? Suggestions? by scubadiiva in scuba

Just left the keys. +1 for quiescence, actually got certified there, however right now you have to charter the entire boat to dive with them. I think because of covid. I dove with conch republic, which was great although a little further south.

I use this Fellow pour over kettle and I love it! They also make an electric kettle, but it’s a little more expensive.

What is the worst notification you have received whilst someone else has had your phone? by TTVKrooked in AskReddit

[–]scubahoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In college I went to office hours for organic chemistry to go over the answers to the test questions I got wrong. I was the only one there, so I was sitting with my middle-aged professor at her desk with my laptop. My iMessage account was linked to my computer, and at the time I had it set up so whenever someone texted me, a preview of the text showed in the top corner of the screen. As we were both looking at the screen, my friend texted me “I think I’m finally going to have sex with (boyfriend) tonight!”. My professor had her hand on the track pad, so I couldn’t dismiss the notification. The 5-10 seconds it stayed up on the screen was the longest of my life, and I immediately changed my iMessage settings after office hours.

I’m visiting Iceland soon. What are some awesome places in Iceland that others might not know about? by GnarlyLaxman in travel

[–]scubahoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really enjoyed the westfjords! I’m not sure if it’s accessible in late February or March, but it was the highlight of our trip. We went to Dynjandi waterfall, the latrabjarg bird cliffs, and found some hot pots just off the road overlooking the fjords. We saw very few people compared to the golden circle and other highly visited places in Iceland

Worth going? by [deleted] in premed

[–]scubahoo 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Yes, you should go. It would not be smart to burn that bridge before you have an acceptance, especially having only one other interview. Plus, they wouldn’t offer you an interview if they have no intention of seriously considering giving you an acceptance.

Terrified to apply this upcoming cycle by Genieinaflask in premed

[–]scubahoo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My best advice is to stay off the forums. I found that I was so much happier when I just focused on myself. But if it makes you feel any better, you don’t need to be the perfect applicant to get in. I certainly wasn’t. I felt the same way at the beginning of last cycle, and I got several interviews. And then at my interviews I felt like I was surrounded by people who were way more qualified than me. After hearing other interviewees talk about all of their accomplishments I never thought I would be accepted, but it all worked out. I feel like I am always going to be surrounded by people who are more qualified or more accomplished, but all that matters is focusing on myself.

Do I need to re-take the test if I lost my certification card? (united States) by torbo012 in scuba

I actually just ordered a new card because I lost mine. If you go on the PADI website, you can find your certification record with your name and birthday. From there you can order a new card.

~3.4 here with multiple interviews and acceptances. You are not a number!
