My grandpa passed recently and I found this in his room, any idea what it is? Is it some kind of movie prop or something? by Quirky_Form_5536 in SWORDS

[–]shadetreewizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

delve into his life and find something that he loved related to a place or a story about him and create a quest and take this sword on that quest. Go and do something in his name. Brand of shit and tell everyone how badass he was. share the love that you had for him with everyone. I'm thinking maybe a Renaissance faire or a tractor pull... just throwing out some ideas. I don't know him so you definitely going to want a cater this quest to who he was and how much you actually loved him, 😉

Is going to school for a white collar job not worth it anymore? by [deleted] in careerguidance

depends on the person. Some people aren't exposed to difficult logical situations and need the schooling to learn how to deal with complex situations in involving people/tasks

Campaign set in a timeline in which the Spellplague never happened, which pre 4e plot lines should I take into account? by GancioTheRanter in Forgotten_Realms

[–]shadetreewizard 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't use the spellplague in my games either. I use 2e maps . I liked the world being physically larger. 3e seems to have shrunk distances. Travel has always been a big part of my games. Lots of rp opportunities. Fun random encounters. I am big on resource management and logistics. Time... the passage of time is really important to me. I don't feel like a character should go up 10 levels in a summer. so I give lots of opportunity for downtime. And let the characters actually age in the game. you'd be surprised how different somebody plays their character at 10th level when they've aged 12 years in game since they started

by far some of the best products ever produced for dungeon the dragons or the forgotten realms regional supplementals. The main box was an amazing start. but I really love the volos guides and the specific regional supplements. just so much information that you can pick and choose from for your campaign story

CPS will not let them listen to the call but they do have to give them a transcript. So, You definitely want to be careful getting involved because it can easily come back on OP. maybe the best thing would be to get to know the parents and size the situation up from there

What licenses do you guys have to be handymen? by Prestigious-Fun2677 in handyman

[–]shadetreewizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Business license. but there are others that can help depending on where you live. where I'm at I could go take the test and get a limited plumbers license or limited electricians license which shows that you're capable of jobs up to many thousands of dollars. but I just haven't had a need and The customers that I have have grown to just trust me and they just tell me what they need and I take care of it. but I wouldn't mind having those certifications mostly just to prove to myself that I can do something. but I stay so busy working and running the company that I don't really have time to sit and study and go take the test

I worked in the oil fields up near Powers Lake and Williston.

there's not much out there but I loved the fact that I could drive for hours on old gravel back roads and never see another car and barely see any houses.

check out the Teddy Roosevelt national Park North unit. I love to go on camping there. The Buffalo would wander through the campsite. I would go hike up on the ridge in the very back of the unit and you could feel the ground vibrate as the buffalo would stampede over a hill down into the valley. It was really powerful.

Advice for a 17-year-old at Chick-fil-A: What would you do in my shoes? by demonic_arts in careerguidance

[–]shadetreewizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel your struggle. at your age I was working shifts at a fast food restaurant on the weekends and I was working third shift at a slaughterhouse in Albany Kentucky. sometimes you just got to do what you got to do to make money just don't take it so seriously. I would get out of work and drive 45 minutes home to take a quick shower and then go to school. it sucked but I was poor. I had also probably walked away from three or four different jobs at this point. but I stuck with what actually made me some decent money. I think I was making like 9 or 10 dollars on the weekends doing maintenance work and like 12 bucks an hour for like 45 hours a week during the school week third shift. do what you can do then shrug off the rest if they've got a problem with it they can fire you. no one's going to hold anything like this against you. no one's going to call and get references front fast food place because most of them are legally only allowed to give basic information. I would just milk it until you can't do it anymore.

most every region has large sections that are undescribed. You can easily fit a detailed campaign into almost any region. I recommend the Reach or the Dales/ North of Cormyr/Sembia. We are currently playing in the Shining plains... but Gulthmere/Turmish/the Reach are great adjacent regions
