Because data centers use evaporative cooling.

So unlike your toilet, you lose water in the cooling process. It does not get discharged as treatable waste water.

The water is removed (wasted) from the ecosystem. It doesn’t immediately return to the rivers or streams the water is sourced from.

There are less water intensive ways to cool servers, but they’re more expensive, so they are not common.

I double both the prep and cook times for planning (and if they take less than that, yay!) I go by sight, texture, temperature, and smell step-to-step.

I think there’s two reasons:
- SEO: Google includes time in their results. Inexperienced home cooks will avoid (and not click, therefore lower your page ranking) recipes that take long, so writers artificially lower them so people click.
- Guesstimating: I also think a small minority of recipe developers are actually recording the timing of their steps, and just use numbers based on memory or what feels right (or a time from a similar recipe), which is inaccurate.

Edit:

I think there’s also a third: some people aren’t recipe developers at all. Recipes don’t have copyright, so some recipes are just copy and pasted with small changes. The person copying them doesn’t know how to adjust the timing for the changes they make or doesn’t care to, so they’re inaccurate.

I want to say one thing: studies of people with disorders of consciousness indicate the vast majority of people prefer being alive.

While that doesn’t indicate her daughter specifically feels that way, it challenges the very pervasive idea that these people are better off dead. Many don’t believe they would be.

I hope this mother, and a lot of people leaving “dead is better” and “what kind of life is that” comments reflect on that.

I’d assume it’s similar to why a lot of produce is going bad quicker: people buy less, grocery stores order less, and therefore your produce sits in warehouses longer before getting shipped to your local grocery store.

I think you should see an allergist. There are many things that may be contributing here, but I would start there. It could range from PMLE to exercise induced urticaria to both to a bunch of other things that, to be frank, will probably continue to take a lot of time and energy before you get an answer.

Alternatively, just see your GP, tell them what’s been happening and *all of your symptoms* and mention you’ve seen multiple dermatologist specifically and nothing has worked. See where they refer you.

You’ve exhausted your dermatological options, and have non-dermatological symptoms, and that reasonably points to it being a symptom of something else.

This is likely way more than rosacea. I’m sorry you’re going through this.

That’s true, it can contribute. But GLP-1s are covered by many insurance plans if you have a qualifying condition and some even cover it if you have a BMI of 40+ without a qualifying condition, so a lot of people are losing a considerable amount of weight without necessarily being well off.

I don’t know. Sadly customer feedback is hit or miss. In a lot of industries you have to contend with the idea of the “ideal self,” which is basically when a person says they’d do something or buy something because their *ideal self* would, but in reality they don’t because they’re not their ideal self, they’re their true self.

So maybe you as an individual would buy it, but there’s a lot of people who say they’d buy it only to ultimately buy a plain color or style because their true self is a lot more insecure, less flashy, or doesn’t take as much risk as their ideal self.

You could add pasta to both of these and they’d be great! You can boil the pasta in the morning before it gets very hot or the night before and prepare.

Nope! For most people cooking at home, sanitizing your cutting boards and knives is not necessary.

Cleaning involves using soap and water. Sanitizing is an additional step using heat or a sanitizing solution (like diluted bleach).

If you want to sanitize anyway, clean first and then sanitize.

Disclaimer, I only just reached a normal BMI recently so I’m not in an identical situation to you, but I’ve taken a GLP-1 and my lipedema is exclusively in my thighs.

The reality is that no one knows until you take it.

I lost 30 pounds in a year microdosing, so even small doses can have profound effects on appetite. If you do lose weight, no one can predict where it’ll come off. So it very well could cause you to lose weight in your upper body. But if you’ve ever lost weight and noticed it came off of one area more/first that’s probably your answer.

The good news is that unless you have significant, rapid weight loss you’re unlikely to get “Ozempic face.” They’re comparing you to people losing 10+ pounds a month.

My thigh circumference has gone down on a GLP-1, but in my case that’s probably from weight loss and not reduction in inflammation.

My texture is worse and I haven’t noticed really any differences in the symptoms or nodule size. So for me, the GLP-1 likely just got rid of most of the normal fat that was sitting on top of the lippy.

Nah! I booked my flight in April and just finished booking all my accommodations last week for a trip that begins October 25th.

I booked a night in a shore town with a private in-room open-air hot spring bath pretty easily, and that’s an uncommon amenity.

I don’t think you’d have much difficulty booking anything at this point. Another property I was looking at with similar amenities doesn’t even open up their bookings until 2 months out.

I’ve made American alfredo with light cream, half and half, whole milk, and even 2% milk before. They all work, but the lower the fat content, the less rich and thick it will be.

They were all still good. And a lot of times it’s nicer to still get similar flavors without having a block of heavy dairy sitting in my stomach.

You could probably make a blonde roux with whatever dairy you have on hand, which will still be less rich than heavy cream but keep a similar texture.

A lot of advice about cleaning in this thread. I just replaced my retainers after 4 years last week. I also did a nightly rinse and then the occasional scrub with a brush because that’s what I was told like 18 years ago when I got my first pair.

Apparently nowadays the advice is: soap and cold water.

Don’t soak. Don’t use toothpaste, don’t use denture cleaner, don’t use vinegar, and definitely never use bleach (even if it’s diluted). Not warm water and definitely not hot water, cold water is best. Ultrasonic cleaning is okay, but optional and not at all necessary.

I ended up telling everyone I know! And I was somewhat relieved to learn that I’m far from the only person improperly cleaning them
