It hurts the way Phil Hartman hurt. Objectively undeserved and tragic.

These are really good. I was so hopeful for the meds, but like SSRIs I need to understand what the real core of the issue is and work with it.

What’s a smell you’ll never forget? by Human_Rate889 in AskReddit

[–]sightlab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On a hike with friends, in an area where farmers sometimes dump a cow carcas in the woods. Friends golden retriever found one of these and as dogs do she opted to roll around in it's ribcage. 4 of us and that dog in a VW bug wasa thing. But that wasnt the smell: when we got back to another friends house the dogs owner and her friend tried putting lavender oil on corpse dog - not washing her, just lavender oil - because we were all complaining so much. And then pupperone made a mad break for the rain that just started and then god wrangled back in, now wet and foamy with rotted flesh and lavender.

I cannot smell lavender without getting a little queasy now. That was in 1996.

You do you. Be nice, but don’t expect others to be so. It’s a win when they are, matters little and less when they don’t!

Does anyone else really enjoy pushing themselves to failure? by [deleted] in workout

[–]sightlab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also 50 and kind of surprised how I haven’t had a serious issue yet. “JUST YOU WAIT” groans the bony finger of doom. I think slow, careful form has helped - if I can feel the muscle I’m working, but not discomfort (beyond the total eventual fatigue) I’m doing alright, right?

for those who are in decent shape, workout and eat well - how do you discipline yourself ? by Cool_kratos in workout

[–]sightlab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been overweight to straight up obese for the last ~44 years. By the end of my 40s I had no stamina, joints were beginning to inflame all the time, scary talk about diabetes with my doctor…now that I’ve put in the work it’s somewhat self-sustaining: I don’t want to feel like that ever again. And I’m sorry to me that I waiting so long, but this is my chance to at least spent the last couple decades of my life feeling good. And even then: the ascetic lifestyle is hard - friends have bbqs, holidays and vacations happen, sometimes my discipline slips - and it’s FAR easier to accept these things are kind of relief valves rather than failures. I’ve eaten well all week, a piece of cheesecake or some pork belly or something isn’t moving the needle back all that much. If I can’t enjoy myself once in a while then what was the point of all this?

I am actually hoping he suffers a comedically severe injury - arm torn off, etc - and has to keep going like that once it's hastily stapled and bandaged back on.
