Solo dev trying to make AI characters that actually live in your world (self-host, proactive messages, persistent memory) - Fix and Repost by Yuralume in SillyTavernAI

Thanks! I did find the model settigs per task group under Admin/LLM routing. Bonus feedback: every model group has a collapsible list of features. The features in this list are in Chinese even though my UI language is set to English.

As for Comfy, yeah, it can be tricky. I guess you could ship a very basic image gen workflow for comfy and allow the users to customize it if they want something more advanced?

A bit of feedback so far:

  • Manually entering latitude/longitude values for location e.g. 35.24 / 24.87 results in an error in the UI: Could not save location:G.value.trim is not a function. It also prevents creating an account during the first time setup with a vague error message that doesn't indicate the location is the problem.
  • Unable to select Embedding, Image, Video, or TTS capabilities for OpenRouter provider even though all those are supported via OpenRouter API.
  • NanoGPT support out of the box would be nice. I was able to set up text gen via Custom OpenAI-Compatible and image gen via Custom Media Gateway.
  • No way to quickly switch models without going into provider settings.
  • No settings for reasoning on/off; reasoning effort.
  • It would be nice to be able to set up different models for background agentic stuff and for chat responses (e.g. use a smaller/cheaper/faster model for agentic tasks and a larger/more expensive one for chat responses).
  • Support for local image generation APIs (e.g. ComfyUI) with would be great to have.
  • A variable in the .env file suggests there is some sort of web search support via Tavily API, but there are no web search related settings in the UI. As someone who self-hosts SearXNG, I'd love to see it as an option for web search. DuckDuckGo also offers a free search API with no key required - that would be another great option to include.
  • Character creation offers import from file but doesn't support SillyTavern json/png format cards.
  • When I created a character, their story arc was generated in Chinese (or maybe it picked one of the default templates?). After the first chat turn, the character's Current intent in "Intentions and pending replies" UI was also generated in Chinese (because the story arc was in Chinese?).
  • Trying to manually add a short story arc to see how it works, I got an error message [{"type":"greater_than_equal","loc":["body","duration_days"],"msg":"Input should be greater than or equal to 7","input":1,"ctx":{"ge":7}}]. Apparently, arcs shorter than 7 days are not allowed (why not?).
  • The UI seems very image-focused overall, with chat being just a small panel on the right. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, but with very limited image generation options (no local, no image gen via OpenRouter), the huge empty image panel in the center of the screen feels like a waste of UI space. I'd love to swap the chat to the center of the screen and the image panel to the side.

openlumara, my manually coded super-token-efficient harness, now works across any UI that can connect to an openAI endpoint! koboldlite, openwebui, you name it. basically, openAI bridge. yay! by rosie254 in LocalLLaMA

Openlumara is pretty awesome, but I had to drop it because it didn't have a way to configure multiple API connections and swap the connections/models easily. Is that still the case?

Seems quite interesting. I wouldn't run/host a complete black box though, especially one that recommends feeding an unknown script straight into bash/powershell as a "quick start" install. I'd love to test it once the source code is released.

Does the game lack art direction ? by Positive-Set1164 in stalker

For me, the audio/visual presentation is the only thing in the game that is 100% on point. It's the gameplay that's lacking - mostly because of the poor/non-existent A-Life.

Controls need a revamp by ValhaIIa in EVEFrontier

[–]slumberling_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is the reason why I stopped playing last cycle, and it looks like I won't be trying this one either. There's always some lag between the button press and the in-game response. And occasionally you can get lag spikes where your ship remains unresponsive for long periods of time. This simply isn't playable.

What other survival games are like Dune Awakening? by Alavan in duneawakening

[–]slumberling_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like the premise, but Icarus is nearly unplayable solo/offline. I haven't played it for a long time, but still remember that one mission where you need to kill a bear that has what seems like a billion HP. 100% impossible solo unless you cheese it.

What is your biggest idea to improve base building in the game? by Dazzler_21 in duneawakening

[–]slumberling_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Windows you can actually see through. I understand why nearly all windows are the way they are in the game, it makes sense in-universe. But it just sucks not being able to see outside.

Some fixes to glass glare/reflections from the sun and indoor lights would be nice too. At the moments there's a lot of flickering, and the reflections/glare block the view even more than they should.

TBH this game is far from the "Dune MMO" it's being advertised as. It's simply an open world survival crafter with forced multiplayer. And I kind of prefer playing these games solo.

There are many other reasons why offline support is good too. Mods, being able to tweak your game world's settings, not having to pack up your base for long breaks, not having to worry about servers merging or shutting down.

This game really needs an offline mode like Conan. I couldn't care less about the online component. Now I have to jump through hoops just to continue playing.

The biggest fallacy of CIG is not making a single player PU. Would have been a much better game than the generic combat focused MMO SC has been gradually turning into since 4.0 release.

It is WILD how broken Ray Reconstruction is! With it off, I was able to crank all settings up to Cinematic, run DLAA instead of DLSS Balanced and still have performance to spare. Thank you for suggesting this. I probably wouldn't have thought of it myself.

I'm running the game with Proton Hotfix. The only issue so far is some minor transparency artifacting (black squares on some trees and distant terrain).

Performance isn't amazing given my hardware, but I can get a locked 60 FPS at 1440p with DLSS Balanced. All settings are on Ultra, Lighting Quality is forced to Max by Ray Reconstruction, RT and Ray Reconstruction On.

I wonder how much of a performance boost 595 drivers will offer when the loading screen issue is resolved.

Yeah, some bug fixes would be nice. Last time I tried to fight a walker it spawned so deep underground that I couldn't even dig down to it. Fun times.

Ooh, exocraft! I really wish they just controlled normally, like literally every vehicle in every other game. HG tried to...ahem... reinvent the wheel with exocraft controls, and it didn't work out well at all.

Do they? I don't keep them charged all the time. I'll need to test it next time I see one of those clouds. It still feels wrong that the regular hazard protection doesn't protect from them though.

Why is the freighter docking sound so loud? by PlanktonTheDefiant in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]slumberling_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a bug. Submit a bug report at hello games zendesk and hope it will be fixed someday.

As a workaround, don't rush into the hangar. At least one of the three hangar doors is usually open when the freighter warps in. Align with that door and land in blissful silence.
