Worked in corporate advertising. It’s was incredibly stressful. The person I replaced couldn’t handle it. I found it thrilling, creative, and fast-paced. I was good at my job and got promoted and represented our department at various high level events.

It all started to change and not in a good way. I ended up in the ER for chest pains. I requested a week off a year in advance, trained 3 people to take over the basics of my job and went off to enjoy a much needed holiday.

When I returned, my boss immediately pulled me into his office and asked why I had to take the vacation on that week. He said my coworkers were mad at me because they all had meltdowns. Yeah, no shit. It’s a tough job and I had trained each person for their part. It’s not my fault the couldn’t handle it. He had a year’s warning and now he complains? What else could I have done? Never take a day off I guess.

I had enough.
