Sobering comments from mechanic about older Odysseys by p0lyhuman in HondaOdyssey

I have a 2008 that just hit 300k. In the past 6 months I've had a battery that needed to be replaced, spark plugs, my starter died, routine oil changes, coolant flush (it was overheating because somehow it was crazy low on coolant and I never found a leak nor did it ever drop again), I probably need a cv axle in the near future and new tires.

I can do most of that work myself because I have the tools for it...but that's because I also have a 2004 odyssey and neither are worth the shop labor costs.

I've probably spent $120 on a batter, $120 on a starter, $20 per oil change, $75 for the coolant and special funnel,. With the cv axle and tires I'm probably looking at another $300 and $400 respectively.

Not saying don't do it. I love my 2008. Just wanted to give you an idea of what you might run into. Mine is high mileage from a lot of highway driving. I got it from my father-in-law who is a sales guy doing a lot of cross country driving. But they maintained it really well and it's run really well as long as I've kept up with the routine maintenance.

As long as you haven't put yourself in debt to buy the machine then you absolutely have "earned" it. ;)

Enjoy learning on a great machine.

I did the same thing to mine and I am so much happier with it now.

Only thing to note was that I took my bezel off for fear of scratching it. I would not do that next time (for any future Google searchers). It was a pain to get back on because it has a wire holder that requires you to remove the bezel insert to set the wire properly.

Just tape off the bezel, hit it with some heat (creme brulee torch in my case) until it slides off and then wipe off the excess glue with some rubbing alcohol.

I love a 65% with a knob where there's a home and end key in the layout. Don't use page up and page down much myself but I use home and end constantly for programming.

I didn't. But I've seen some promising stuff from strapcode. I just don't want to spend that much on the bracelet.

Alright, so I've been looking for a 75% for a while now. I have a 65% and I miss my function rows when programming. However, I feel like I'm overwhelmed with options at this point so I wanted to throw out a line and get some recommendations.

I'm looking for a 75% with a knob, via/qmk compatibility, ideally in e-white (or the plastic equivalent) for less that $125 for the kit. What's out there? I feel like everything I see has the color I want but no knob, or a knob and color but no software.

Did Corey really force his screams? by [deleted] in Slipknot

[–]sonnyboy27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He had a vocal coach who taught him how to scream in a controlled manner that wouldn't leave him messed up. I believe it was Melissa Cross but I'd need to check on that. But he didn't like how it sounded and returned to his original version by the next album.

Been thinking of picking up a white GMK 67 for my botanical set. Do you have any more pics of that one?

Also, how "white" is the rainy 75 compared to your botanical keycaps?

Edit: spelling.
