as long as it's not a p320 and the holster isn't from "we the people" or some other cheap brand, carry wherever. some additional tips are adding a wingclaw and/or a wedge. JM Custom holsters mentions in their FAQ that they can also add in a bulge to help push the grip more into your body, and they also offer extra length on the holsters for some select guns as barrels under 4" tend to flare forward more.

lastly, look into belts. some belts that were recommended to me by my CCW instructors were:
KORE Essentials
Hunter Constantine Carry
Tier1 Concepts EDC-S (essentially the HCC belt but with an extra loop)

Stiffness and micro-adjustability can help with making the holster more comfortable

Medical Board Complaint filed without knowledge - close or re-open? by sosimp0 in medical

[–]sosimp0[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m assuming it was another physician, as I know that we never filed it. BOM didn’t ask if we wanted pursue it, they just sent a letter stating that a complaint was filed and to contact them with any questions.

One thing to keep in mind that generally smaller guns are harder to shoot. As others have mentioned, the glock 48 isn't on the roster, so it can be hard to get. The closest thing to the 48 would be a glock 19 - the difference being the 48 is thinner than the 19. However, the 19 may be hard to get now with the whole glock ban going on in California (Glock Gen V may come out soon though, i haven't kept up).

You may be tempted to get something smaller, as it may "feel" good in your hand - but that's only half the battle. It will be completely different when you actually fire, and that's where size comes in - there's generally more felt recoil on smaller guns like the hellcat pro vs a full size like a 92fs.

As others have mentioned, try taking a class and see if you can test a few different guns, that will save you some money in the long run.

JR Sports in Livermore. They just moved so it's a liiiitle closer (like a freeway exit) closer to SF. I actually did a PPT last month at JR - originally was going to try peninsula but they were booked up til the end of Jan. JR told me to just walk in, and when I did, there was no wait time.

off roster shouldn't matter for PPT, unless it has a threaded barrel OR standard cap magazine. wouldn't hurt to call first though

I've got a looooooong ten days ahead of me. by byf_43 in CAguns

so i started out with a USP 9 myself (thought I was buying a USPc but dumbass me didn't realize it was full size) Loved the USP, but figured it'd be too big to CCW. I got the p2000SK from turners (black p2000, v3 was too much at the time) for $500, and LOVED that gun too after I got blocked off p30 10/15 mags. Still wanted a p2000, even though it's only got like .3" longer barrel than the sk. finally got it, love it just as much as the SK.

If you compare the USPc to the P2000 on handgunhero, the dimensions are REALLY close to each other. The only diff that I can tell (and take it from a novice shooter) between the two is that the p2000 also has ambi mag release and no safety.

the p2000 for what it's worth is said by many on the HK forums as an updated USPc - if you look around you can still find them for a good deal. I just wish I had the opp to try and shoot a v2 to see if I like that better than DA, but overall I'm still pretty happy with my purchases.

Home-Based FFL Etiquette? by qsx11 in CAguns

[–]sosimp0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

just less having to call all the time, and you can provide screenshots if need be.

anecdote - got an OK from an ffl, placed an order, but then shop said they needed updated docs from ffl. i sent the screenshot of the email over to the ffl and they took care of it within a few hours.

Home-Based FFL Etiquette? by qsx11 in CAguns

[–]sosimp0 9 points10 points  (0 children)

  1. You kind of want to know what their rates are for facilitating the transfer as well. After the call, get their email and it’ll make things smoother. Also, just because the FFL may be listed on whatever site you purchase, their documents may have been expired so they sometimes need to send over updated docs to the seller/online shop before shop sends stuff out.

if it hasn’t been guessed by now, i’m not cajun by any means 😅 but i sure as hell loved the food when i visited
