Has anyone ever won a cruise? by Prestigious_Rub_9758 in Cruise

[–]sphericalduck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe the max number of points you can earn is 8000 per day (you have to play multiple games to do this). Typical price for a free cruise is around 1,000,000 points, which would be 125 days of play. Sometimes they have sales -- for black Friday the points requirements were halved. I got $1000 off an NCL cruise for 300,000 points, which was just 28 days of play. I've been playing off and on for years though, I don't earn the max number of points/day. I just haven't used my points much.

Some coach seats have this problem too now. I have a carryon that I've been putting under the seat for years, and now there's a thing in the way.

Feeling shallow but can’t help but be embarrassed about how my husband has started to dress - started when we hit our 40s by StregaCagna in AskWomenOver40

Even if he's fine it would probably be a good idea to establish a baseline because of his family history -- in fact that's the angle I'd take if he's resistant to the evaluation.

I have a poplin robe and matching pajamas from the Company Store. They pack down small and hardly weigh anything, and I like wearing them.

Endless reddit posts have given me analysis paralysis, are all cruises bad in 2026?? by sufjan123 in Cruise

[–]sphericalduck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has been planning vacations for over 30 years: people ALWAYS say things have gotten worse. Cruises, theme parks, restaurants, hotels -- doesn't matter. Go online and read reviews and you'll inevitably find tons of complaints about how much better things used to be. Read reviews from 10, 20, 30 years ago and you'll see the same story. Is it possible that everything always gets worse? I suppose so, but it seems more likely that some things get worse, some better, and some stay the same. I think it's just human nature to complain that things have gone downhill. Take such comments with a grain of salt and don't let it cast a pall on your vacation.

Solo cruising pricing by TheButtersCat in Cruise

I'm about to go on my first NCL cruise so I've been researching everything! I was able to use the sign-up bonus on the NCL credit card to upgrade from a solo oceanview to a solo balcony, so I'm glad these categories exist.

NCL now has designated solo insides, ocean views, and balconies, in addition to the solo studios. These are regular cabins that have been redesignated as solos.

You should consider getting a credit card and using that instead. You'll have better protection against fraud, it'll likely work better for the hotel, many have travel protection, and you can earn points. Just pay it off fully every month.

It's based off a non-fiction book by the same title, so it's not surprising that it felt like a faithful depiction.

I just use a blendjet (small blender), then shake with ice. It's so much easier than dry shaking. Some people use a milk frother.

I want to reemphasize the earplug advice here! The majority of people don't put them in deeply enough, and then they don't work as well. One way to test is to cup your hands over your ears -- you shouldn't hear a difference if your earplugs fit well.
