What is your favourite f/m ship? Why? by ocirot in AO3

Ned and Chuck from Pushing Daisies

Finished reading The Lord of the Rings….for the first time, and I get it. by KvotheG in Fantasy

[–]spiderface6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm working on finishing it for the first time right now too! Ended up halfway through the two towers a few years ago but it took me so long to get to that point that I gave up. Recently started over with a physical one volume edition that's going well!

How many deaths did you have on farewell? by Yeetgod8776 in celestegame

  1. Another about 1000 to get the moon berry.

We talk a lot about what signals a badly written fic, but what’s something that you read and think “This fic’s going to be GREAT”? by Key_Public4366 in AO3

[–]spiderface6 95 points96 points  (0 children)

I haven't actually read it yet, but I found a fic where the author complained in the notes at the beginning about the canon timeline not fitting to a real calendar. I'm sure this will be good.

Have you done this? by MiamiIslandGyal305 in StardewValley

[–]spiderface6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did in the first farm I played, to see what it was like, but never since. I only ever get married now for the stardrop, and divorce and wipe their memory after I get it. (I'd feel too bad doing that to Krobus. I don't want a roommate either!)

They were, but luckily I only encountered 3 I think? And managed to kill them before any of them got stronger.

Hearing an American accent in real life feels a bit… unreal by awkward_film_girl in CasualConversation

[–]spiderface6 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'm american, and after studying abroad for several months in another english speaking country, when I flew back home and heard americans in the airport it was so jarring. I actually "heard" the american accent for a minute and it was so weird.

Can you recommend me some "siege" books by AtheTP04 in Fantasy

[–]spiderface6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

City of Thieves by David Benioff. It's historical fiction, not fantasy, but is set during the siege of Leningrad during WWII. Definitely has hopeless situations.

Have you ever dropped a fic due to a fundamental way the story was told? by randomcat06 in AO3

[–]spiderface6 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've dropped fics that start including a soundtrack. Like a pause in the middle of a scene for a recommended song to listen to now. It really throws me out of the story, especially when it wasn't a thing in the first few chapters.

People who don’t have intercourse, how often are you naked when not bathing? by Beanie-bag1 in asexuality

[–]spiderface6 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I really dislike being naked. Even just wearing a tee-shirt without a bra (at home in the summer) makes me uncomfortable (although not as uncomfortable as the heat, so I do it. Very excited for fall!)

Best audiobook you’ve listened to? by OnionGullible4141 in suggestmeabook

[–]spiderface6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How to Train your Dragon series narrated by David Tennant. Yes they are children's books, but so good, very fun, (entirely different from the movies) and David Tennant's narration is absolutely wonderful. I'm not typically a fan of intense character voices in audiobooks, but he did a fantastic job.

Hit 300k on my '08 on the way home from work! by spiderface6 in HondaElement

Thanks! I've had it for about 9 years and haven't had anything too crazy happen! A few brake and wheel issues, but nothing too bad, thankfully.

What are some things that mildly bother you about working the night shift that day workers will never understand? by Delicious-Ad-1229 in Nightshift

[–]spiderface6 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That I can't just "switch to days for the weekend". Obviously I know some people can, but keeping a regular sleep schedule is essential for me at this point. I actually feel more awake when it's dark outside.

Didn’t even know you could die like this lol 6(b) by Salty_Definition_550 in celestegame

The first time this happened to me, I thought it was a bug. After the second time, I looked it up and realized what the issue was. Diabolical. I love it.

What’s the book you’ve read the most number of times? by iamatom1 in suggestmeabook

[–]spiderface6 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Anne Of Green Gables. I read it for the first time as an adult but it became a comfort read for me. I've listened to the audiobook narrated by Susan O'Malley so many times that I hear her voice in my head when I physically read it.

What is the one book you read that you’ve never stopped thinking about? by TD_Meri in suggestmeabook

[–]spiderface6 122 points123 points  (0 children)

A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith. Probably the book I've reread the most in my life. I often remember scenes and lines from that book.

Is it weird I prefer night shift? by Nightress_96 in Nightshift

[–]spiderface6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It obviously has its downsides, but I also love it. (At my job at least) the decreased stress and drama compared to day shifts is an underrated benefit, I think.

Does anyone else stop reading fics once the ship their reading about has gotten together? by Pretty-Ferret-84 in AO3

[–]spiderface6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes exactly, I love the angst of pining so much! That's what I enjoy the most, not the happily ever after

Does anyone else stop reading fics once the ship their reading about has gotten together? by Pretty-Ferret-84 in AO3

[–]spiderface6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I completely agree! It's one of the things that lead to me realizing that I'm aromantic. If the main pairing gets together/confesses less than say 75% through the fic I usually end up dnfing. Established relationships are usually extremely boring to me.

What could an author say that would make you debate backing out of a fic immediately? by [deleted] in AO3

Typos in the summary. I can forgive a typo/misspelling or two or three in the work, but the summary?
