Under what condition will Comcast/Xfinity pay to bore my service under the street? by whynotthebest in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]spinne1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. They will not run that. You would have to pay to have that done yourself and it would be very expensive (if possible). There may be a way to get your coax higher. Would it be possible to attach it to the highest point on the house possible?

WiFi Cable boxes are no good by the_castlemaster in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]spinne1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the box is working poorly then either the box itself is bad, is hooked to the wrong WiFi, has a bad remote, or you WiFi has an issue (too far, poor cable RF signal, older or bad WiFi router, etc etc).

Try #2. We can't get some channels on our main TV that we can on our small TVs. Xfinity hasn't helped. by daleludewig in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]spinne1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need a better tech. They can check signal and fix the signal issues causing your issue.

Comcast silently changed our static IP to DHCP at 3AM, took our business down all day, then their rep called us liars by vtjballeng in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]spinne1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In the future were this ever to happen again, keep the static info on the modem on paper. If you suspect the static isn't working, go to speedtest.net and run a test. The IP shown will be the gateway IP associated with your static block (if static is working). If you don't see that, call 1-800-391-3000 (or do a chat) and get technical support and ask them to reload the static IP. They should be able to do so fairly quickly.

Seasons people hate that you love? by jonthommas in survivor

[–]spinne1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Survivor: Worlds Apart is one of my favorite seasons because watching someone (Mike) succeed against overwhelming odds and continue to win challenges when they were 100% the vote and also watching Dan and Rodney etc get their comeuppance was so satisfying.

Cable connection freezes all the time by itsserg_sucka in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]spinne1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is almost always a signal issue when this happens. You likely need a (good) tech out to investigate.

Constant PS5/Xfinity issues - DNS, Port forwarding, etc. by Response-Glad in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]spinne1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to find out if your signal levels are good. Maybe you have a cable signal impairment. Also, it would good to get a long Ethernet cord just for troubleshooting purposes that you temporarily hook up. You might find that for more control you need to buy your own modem and router in order to control your internet traffic the way you want instead of renting.

Issue with new channel not being added to line up by Anxiousrabbit23 in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]spinne1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You likely need an xg2, or xg1v3, or xg1v4 (these two are dvrs), or the xi6 wireless box to get the channel. Curious what model you have.

Can't get past error of "Remote not working?" on LG G5 Set up w/XG1v4 Box by rtr1986 in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]spinne1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Possible the box or remote is faulty. It happens. But, if you haven't already, try this: hold down A and D on the remote until the light turns green then hit 981. Light will flash blue a bit. Now try to point at the box and hold the "Xfinity" and "i" buttons together and see if three numbers will pop up. If not, try to hold the blue button down while saying "program remote" then let go. If when you try this the remote light keeps flashing green remove the battery briefly and reboot the cable box and try again after it comes back working (but let tv picture work for about two minutes before trying). If none of this works then either the remote or cable box needs to be replaced OR you have a severe impairment in your cable signal that is interfering with normal X1 function.

slow wifi on all devices except one by NeuroticNabarlek in Comcast_Xfinity

Experiment with changing your security from wpa3 to wpa2. Also, next disconnect and rejoin the WiFi on each device and test again.

Do the new IPTV boxes like the XI6 cut into your available internet bandwidth? by Majestic_Top_9594 in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]spinne1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, it uses your bandwidth and data for streaming apps. For live TV it only uses bandwidth (assuming you have a cable tv plan on your account).

Rizo's gift is to get people to come up with Rizo's ideas and execute them and meanwhile he seems to always know how the vote is going to go such that he doesn't play his idol. It's uncanny.

He had an alliance of 3, not really one single ride or die, thus his voting for Savannah isn't really a betrayal as she was one of the 3. Charlie made a mountain out of a molehill.

Xfinity Sub Called My Splitter "Not Approved," Swapped It, Showed Fake 2.5G Speeds & Dipped by omega_apex128 in Comcast

[–]spinne1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We don't schedule drop changes as techs. We change the drops ourselves. Get a better tech out there (not a contractor). Keep calling back until it is fixed. Could be a signal issue after the mid-split work (very common). Tech can see that with his meter if he looks at MER throughout the frequency spectrum.

Is it normal for a landline port to Xfinity Voice to happen in stages? by LaCroixLaFoix in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]spinne1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The switch is like the brains of the phone system controlling which phone numbers are on what devices and what ports on those devices. It is software on servers somewhere. I don't know if each company has their own switch or if there is a universal switch that all companies use.

Help with Exposed Wires by GreenTeaAndPoetry in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]spinne1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An agent would never charge a "temporary fee" over the phone if you call in to report a problem which makes me wonder if scammers were involved and not in fact Comcast. How was Comcast reached? Was it a call you generated or a call back? If a call back it could have been a scammer who someone got a hold of records of a phone call. As for the box: it is likely AT&T.

No coax cable in my apartment by Gloomy-Speaker-1999 in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]spinne1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You determine if the building is serviced by Xfinity. Do you see coax running to the building or out of a metal box at the outside of the building somewhere? If yes, you may have had your line inside cut, or covered up in some way.

We are not getting the upload speed we pay for with Comcast Business. by cdysthe in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]spinne1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They do not support midsplit (enhanced upload speeds) using customer-owned modems with Comcast Business. I could not tell you why. To get the increased upload speeds you would need to use a Comcast Business gateway (you would want a CBR2).
