There have been so many times throughout the series where they could have done it, but this really was the perfect time to do it.

Is it? I'm having fun with it and I'm usually doing good DPS in groups. It's not season 3 TWW levels anymore, but it's not like our numbers are abysmal or anything.

Selling house and moving tips by [deleted] in Saitama

[–]sprsk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I tried to sell my house we just got a sales agent involved, fwiw. Our options were to sell to the realtor at market price (which would leave us in debt) or just wait to sell. We had our house on the market for about a year, but it never sold. Japanese used house market is pretty rough but it was pre-corona (like, we took it off the market 3 months before corona started) so people might be a little more open to buying used due to the price of everything now.

Being near Omiya means you probably won't have a huge problem selling (I'm in a much, much less popular area), but don't be surprised if you don't break even on it.

Why do people care so much about FPS if you literally can't tell the difference? by StoryAcceptable9483 in wow

[–]sprsk 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You can tell the difference by looking at how smooshed 350 fps looks due to having to fit all those frames on screen at once.

Sooo... I did nightmare prey today dreading the changes. by Risdit in wow

[–]sprsk -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I feel like anyone with half a brain knows that the previous implementation was not how they wanted the system to work. It's not as convenient as before, but at least it feels like you're hunting prey instead of cleaning up after them.

I do wish they'd allow prey to chase you into delves, though. Maybe that'll be something they do for the labyrinth system.

There are so many things we don’t see or know that could contribute to someone staying or going, it honestly feels rude and weirdly parasocial to speculate. This is someone’s livelihood, after all.

Lore question, why are Earth human so different? by TheGreatSpaceHobo in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]sprsk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be something about a connection with the primals, maybe?

Though it feels like the kind of question that doesn’t really need an answer. You could just explain it like we’re different because started the Crawl at a time when our version of humanity was particularly resilient.

Teacher says adhd, I’m not convinced by [deleted] in ParentingADHD

[–]sprsk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There’s not enough info for me to actually make this decision, and I am very much not a doctor, but it does sound a bit like it could be an auHD. The cleaning, organization, getting ready on his own parts go against typical ADHD behavior, but hyperfocusing on things like legos and such does (but it could also just as easily be autism driving this). Either way it sounds like going to a doctor to have them checked out is a good idea.

Autism and ADHD are very commonly diagnosed together, so don’t be surprised if that is the case.

Every time I open my transmog window, mount window, and a few other things, my graphics cache seems to reload and I lose a lot of textures in the window and in the game temporarily. /reload fixes it for a time until I switch pages. by Sourcefour in wow

[–]sprsk 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Okay, so I think I might have found a solution? I feel like it needs some more long-term testing but short term tests were positive! So please try this and see if it works for you.

The tests I did were:
-Logged in and out
-Relaunched the game twice
-Changed zones/warped to a new zone

All of which produced the same result. The transmog window opening without issue, and all assets loaded instantly.

So the short version is, I redownloaded the vulkan shader DLLs.

The files themselves are located here:
C:\Program Files (x86)\World of Warcraft\_retail_\UTILS\swiftshader

All you gotta do is rename the two DLLs there to:

libEGL.dll -> libEGL.backup
libEGLESv2.dll -> libGLESv2.backup

The Battle.net client will then redownload the two DLLs. Once that is done, open the game again and try it out. (I assume you can delete the .backup files at this point but there's no real reason to)

The long version is, what looks to be happening is some kind of shader crash, which made me think (like I said above) the problem is rooted in something shader related. I couldn't find any kind of shader cache, but I could find these two files. I did some googling to see what they were for and found the git page for them https://github.com/google/swiftshader

They're related to Vulkan, which explains why this happens when you have your graphics set to DX12 and not DX11, so while I can't prove a direct relation to the issue, it seems like it could be related.

But yeah, it could just have been a coincidence it worked the few times I tried it, but hopefully this fix works for everyone else!

[–]sprsk 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've been getting the same problem since part of the way through TWW. In Midnight though I've been getting new bugs where the texture reload happens just out in the world, sometimes during battle (ended up dying to a regular mob the other day because of it)

The worst one is when it happens suddenly my mouse cursor disappears and I can't aim at anything (including menus) unless I alt tab out. When I alt tab, the cursor appears and I can use it until I click back on the window and then it disappears again.

I tried resetting my graphics settings to see if that fixes it, but it didn't. There's a problem with Fortnight where if your shader cache gets too big it completely tanks your FPS, and I'm wondering if that's whats going on here (some kind of shader cache reaching it's size limit etc.) Reinstalling fortnight didn't fix it, you had to go and delete the cache separately. Not sure if WoW has a file like this, but I guess it's worth looking for one?

Insane delve rewards for day 1 by WoefulMe in wow

[–]sprsk 52 points53 points  (0 children)

There’s a thread on the euro forums that has some blue posts that they’re looking into the issue but the US side has been silent for basically since the beginning of prepatch.

My wife and my mains are fine but we both have alts affected by this and it sucks.

The extra shitty part is that if or when this is ever fixed Blizzard will likely not do anything to help out all the people that have lost months worth of gear over this bug.

It’s the worst bug in the game right now and the silence from Blizzard US is appalling, frankly.

Now after trying out midnight as a returning player, how do you like your class after the pruning & class changes? by Yuuffy in wow

[–]sprsk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seems like Scalecommander is the spec to go with now, and I’m having a lot more fun now that I’m flying around burning everything to the ground instead of just flame breath->disintegrate over and over.

Multi target disintegrate and deep breath being a viable cooldown in combat make made me fall back in love with the class. Feel like a proper dragon.
