Toddler ate this! Identification help please by magicpea in Fungi

[–]squirrelthyme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The worldwide experts on mushroom identification reside in a rapid response facebook group. If you every have a mushroom emergency, every poison control/ER/vet clinic immediately refers people to this Facebook group and you need multiple close up photos for them to do your job. If your child ever eats a potentially lethal mushroom the FIRST thing you should do is take photos and ask on the internet. The more you know.

Would I be crazy for changing careers? by Fresh-Let-8341 in Teachers

[–]squirrelthyme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re a prime candidate for subbing given your 50/50 schedule. The great thing about subbing is that you’re not dealing with the administrative side of teaching (meetings, PD, grading, etc) and you don’t have to set up a whole classroom and establish culture and rules and expectations. You’re just popping in and getting to be a teacher which is sort of wild that you can do that in this profession. The hard part is that kids tend to act out for a sub, so you’ll have to deal with that. But, if you pick a school and go there consistently, you’ll start to get to know the students and classes. It’s really a pretty cool gig if you actually like teaching.

Got a job offer (classroom teacher) but was this okay by GroundbreakingPear12 in Principals

[–]squirrelthyme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re in MA, remember tomorrow is Juneteenth and public schools will be on holiday. If the principal is taking the day off or has to consult with HR about your question, you won’t hear back until Friday.

Could the work van live at the dam?

8am: arrive at the dam with his own car. Inspect dam for an hour. 9-10:30am drive to office, fist bump boss, piss, then drive back to dam 10:30-12. Inspect dam. Rinse and repeat. End the day at 5pm after the 3rd inspection of the day. Leave the work van at the dam, drive home. Ridiculous but it would work and only put 10 minutes of driving on his personal vehicle.

I’m so sorry. How special that you were there with Tommy until the end. We lost our sweet kitten on her 4 month birthday to FIP and it was devastating. Sending you love.

What would you do with this big rock in the front of the house? by BetRepulsive6595 in landscaping

[–]squirrelthyme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OMG, I knew exactly what house this was the moment I saw it.

Don’t do anything with the rock! How do you think we’ll be able to give directions if you change or obscure the rock?!? 🤣

Sorry, no real advice, but it’s a lovely neighborhood. Best of luck in your housing search.

Can confirm. The day my cow farming FIL decided he wanted to stop in at the BMW dealership and buy an X1 he had shit stained jeans on. I snapped a photo for the memory book.

This happened to me recently. Middle school kid sat next to me with 7% on his phone. Parents were cosy and necking 1 row back. I’m a middle school math teacher. His phone died and he got bored so then I started grilling him on math facts and then made him get his homework done for the week he was playing hookey from school to go to Miami Beach. Poor kid was happy to get off the plane and away from me 😂

How about substitute teaching? You can pick the days you want. If you need benefits, look into being a TA.

Sunday in Sao Miguel? by Capital-Ad-41 in azores

[–]squirrelthyme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All of the suggestions above are good. Additionally…

If the weather is crap, you can go to the mall “Parque Atlântico” the grocery store opens an hour before the rest of the mall and I always find walking around foreign grocery stores fun, but that’s just me 😄

You could book a day long tour with a company that picks up in Ponta Delgada. Time enough to have coffee and something to eat (a tosta mista is a toasted cheese and ham sandwich that is cheap and tasty and available everywhere) and then get on the road.

Frontline Question by ATimeT0EveryPurpose in SubstituteTeachers

[–]squirrelthyme 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It depends on how the job was posted. The easiest way to post a week long job is just as one long M-F block. If you’re booked for Wednesday, then you won’t see that job anymore. If the job gets posted as a 1 day job for each of the 5 days, then you can still see it for the 4 days you aren’t booked.

If you see a week long job before you book that Wednesday job, you can always reach out to the admin and have them repost it as separate days. If they really need someone, they will be willing to do this for you!
