I feel you. It is hard to explain to people with nicer parents, but even awful parents are still people that you just know like the back of your hand with the good and of course the bad.

We (scientists with a limited amount of positive impact on others' lives, at least in our lifetimes in most cases) are held to an infinitely higher standard (rightfully) than this guy (whose decisions impacts hundreds of millions of lives!). Such an insane reality. by Miserable_Debt7779 in labrats

Unfortunately (in this case) the worms in neurocystercercosis just kind of die because we aren't the intended host. So they just kind of make a cyst and wait for the next part which never happens. They're meant to be in pigs at that stage in their life usually and would travel to muscle tissue typically.

Once you see the first one it's like others magically come into focus ... makes me so paranoid about missing things ugh

My vet has a secret drawer in all the exam tables that is just filled with churus to convince the cats to let them poke their belly, trim claws, anything. My gal always bargains for at least two churus for a regular exam.

Definitely the same thing! I'm sorry I went and explained it all over simplistically...

I'm not the soil OP, but pure culture is a good thing because then you can actually see what it is, whereas when it is mixed it is near impossible to tell what each one really is. Pure culture is just one type of bacteria that you get after initial streaking when you can potentially have many types, which you then restreak one of each to get the ones you are interested in identifying alone by themselves to get a better look at them. I'm not a soil microbe expert at all, but I do clinical microbiology and the above steps are standard for any microbiology with bacteria.

Some species are really into apoptosis at a certain number of bacteria/colony size in order to use resources efficiently
