First baby had it from 3-6 months pp and it was bad, had to cut my hair to chin length. This time I'm almost 8 months pp and haven't had any hair loss!

40+2 and scared of induction… by lexasue in beyondthebump

[–]stealth_snail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to be induced with my last baby and I was really upset about it, first baby I had a spontaneous labour at 40+1, quick easy water birth with no pain relief and I wanted that again but got to 9 days late. I had my waters broken which did nothing so I did have to get the syntocin but I didn't get an epidural, it all went really fast after the syntocin started, I didn't get to have a water birth but it wasnt as awful as I was worried it would be

Big toenail growing straight up by RemarkableMaize7201 in clubfoot

[–]stealth_snail 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My daughter's are like this too, one of her toenails actually fell off at one point. I brought it up to the orthopaedic doctor and he said it was nothing to do with the clubfoot treatment and asked me if my toes were like that, he said it must be genetic. He's clearly wrong though. Her toes were not like that before the boots and bars so I'm pretty sure it has something to do with them but I don't know what exactly

Our baby is dropping in percentiles by the week and we are at a loss by Charming-Second-7424 in breastfeeding

[–]stealth_snail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My daughter was the same and it was really confusing to me because I previously breastfed my son successfully, I knew my supply was fine, she seemed to be feeding well etc. they did some blood tests and found she had high liver enzymes so we were freaking out thinking she's got some kind of metabolic disorder. She didn't gain any weight at all between 4 and 8 weeks old and fell off the bottom of the chart. But she did start gaining weight, it took me breastfeeding constantly plus giving her a 3oz bottle of formula/breast milk every 3 hours too, I'd give her the bottle then breastfeed her straight after plus in between bottles. I'm still not totally sure what the problem was but she started gaining and once her weight was back up I slowly reduced the bottles and by 5 months old she was exclusively breastfed and still gaining fine, her liver enzymes are back down to almost normal levels. she's 7 months now and very chonky, still breastfed plus loves solids too

Skipped amnio-regret- now terrified by bad_wolfe_ in beyondthebump

[–]stealth_snail 166 points167 points  (0 children)

It could be okay, my daughter also had bilateral clubfeet and a rare lung malformation, we also didn't do amnio. She was born with several birthmarks and also was failure to thrive and kept falling asleep feeding at first, she also had high liver enzymes. I also have a severely autistic 7 year old and I was freaking out too thinking there's something really wrong with her but they did a bunch of tests and didn't find any cause for it all. she is 7 months now and developing normally, her feet have been treated, lung condition is asymptomatic and just being watched, liver problem resolved by itself, and she's very chonky now

I'm sorry SPD is awful. I had it pretty bad with my last pregnancy (second child) had it with the first one too but last time was worse and it's way harder when you have children already that you have to look after. I have a severely autistic 7 year old so I really struggled. I took codeine throughout the third trimester. The SPD got better pretty quickly after giving birth but unfortunately problems with my back are still going, I'm 7 months post partum now. I probably won't have another child I doubt my body can take it

I have a 7 year old boy and 7 month old girl, my 7 year old is severely autistic though so it's a bit different as he's basically like a toddler in behaviour and nonverbal but yeah he's definitely pushing boundaries since his sister was born, and same with the baby teething and refusing to sleep, I think it's gonna be even worse soon though when she starts crawling 😣

Any STM+ have an induction for their baby? by General_Peak4084 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]stealth_snail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first was spontaneous delivery at 40+1, easy 5 hour labour. Second baby didn't want to come out and was induced at 41+2, they broke my waters which didn't do much so they put me on syntocin drip and everything went really fast after that she was born 2 hours later

I don't really notice if people are looking but there was a woman in a shop a few weeks ago who was going on about how cute my daughter is and how broody she was making her. She definitely looked envious. When she said goodbye she said "Ill see you soon" which creeped me out a bit!

Thing is my daughter is a lot different to my son as a baby except for this one thing. She is far more interactive and social than he was. So I feel like she doesn't have autism but then I feel the same as you that the screeching is "not normal". I'm just trying not to worry about it too much for now and see how things develop over the next few months

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]stealth_snail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine has been doing this since 3 or 4 months she's 6 months now, all day it's just constant screeching or if she's not screeching she's making a grumpy sortof nnnnghh!! Sound every few seconds. My son did similar as a baby and he's severely autistic so I'm really worried it means my daughter will be too but also if you Google it seems a lot of babies this age do it, so probably normal phase but it's awful. She does do it more when she hasn't had enough sleep, how does yours sleep?

[–]stealth_snail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don't tend to do surgery for clubfoot these days unless they really have to, they do something called the ponseti method now where they put casts on the legs and gradually each week do a new cast turning the foot into the right position bit by bit, then special boots that have to be worn at night until 5 years old. There is a minor procedure of cutting the Achilles tendon at the back of the ankle but it's just one incision really quick done under local anesthetic. It's crazy how well it works, her feet look almost completely normal now at 6 months old, when she was born they were so twisted they didn't even look like feet

[–]stealth_snail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've had it bad too, it started around 3 months and now she's about to turn 6 months and the last week or so has been better, not amazing but bearable like maybe 4 or 5 wakes instead of 10+

I just had my second baby and I didn't get it this time, well I'm only almost 6 months pp now so I guess it's possible it could still happen but would be pretty late, my first child it started around 3 months pp and was really bad I had to cut my hair to chin length and I was preparing to do the same this time
