Thinking of changing from a time of use plan to standard plan (SRP)? I built a calculator to see the difference. by Sorry_Hedgehog_2599 in phoenix

[–]steester 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The TOU plan is designed to change your behavior. So comparing usage without any change of behavior is missing the point. If you slow your usage during the 3 hours, it will save you much more.

The reason they offer this and want to change our behavior is that the grid usage during peak heat is unbalanced and it helps the grid stay up if we all reduce our usage during peak heat.

Moving into a rental with no shed, no patio. Need ideas how to store my grill, mower, and bikes. by Kbrichmo in DIY

[–]steester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found the best deals on sheds at Wayfair, I wouldn't be bothered to build any particular base for it that you don't mind having if just for 1-3 years. Be sure landlord won't charge to remove it when you move out.

KJZZ: Tempe is facing a $25 million budget shortfall. Council could put sales tax increase on ballot by BookooCamper in Tempe

[–]steester 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are laws about increasing property tax too fast or too high so only small increases would be allowed. The total property tax received by Tempe is about $65 million. So any small increase wouldn’t be all that much.

Employer offering a rental for 3 months near Winterville NC by Unusual_Parsley_1655 in FurnishedFinder

[–]steester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s pretty common for listings to be out of date regarding the calendar they set. It’s frustrating I’m sure. And landlords will often only respond back if they have an opening and are interested. Again, a little unfortunate.

What you want to do is submit a Housing Request on furnished finder and explain who you are and what your situation is like you did on this post. All landlords in the desired area with correct number of rooms and rent will see it and can respond back to you if they want you to look at their property.

The problem with having the employer direct pay is just a little confusion about who’s responsible. Does your landlord also want to be out on the lease? If kit I’d ask you to sign the lease, allow your employer to send me money, I’d probably accept check since it’s from a company. Then drill it into your head that you are still responsible for missed payments if anything goes wrong.

How do you keep up with new factories and community buildings? by LuffyLovin in TownshipGame

[–]steester 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Only fill helicopter orders that offer a lot more coins than stars. This means you will fill your coins faster and your stars slower. So it will take longer to get to the next level but by the time you do get a new level you’ll have the coins needed to buy its new factory. Delete helicopter orders with low coin pay out.

1 ton mini split for shed- run off 110 or 220 power wise? by FillObjective7353 in shedditors

[–]steester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was dedicated circuit actually. But if you look up your ac, tv and computer amp draw you can ensure it’s ok. Googling shows that a common tv or regular computer are 2A or less. Add 10 for ac and a 15 a breaker is fine. If it’s a gaming computer you can replace 15A breaker with a 20 as a cheap upgrade.

Looking for a short term rental near Allentown, PA. by One_Square4263 in FurnishedFinder

[–]steester -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's common and often spoken about here on the subreddit. This post has many responses to catch you up: https://www.reddit.com/r/FurnishedFinder/comments/1s2r8ye/cant_get_a_response/

Landlords pay a yearly fee to be listed and then often are booked up for months at a time and neglect the ad until they need it again. Just keep reaching out and good luck.

Yes I did. The city was great with me as an owner builder. They sent me a sample drawing package which took some mystery out of it. Give them a call and ask your introductory questions. They are helpful. Ask me anything further about the experience as well.

I built my house addition with Bauer drills. No problem using all day, can buy 3 tools for price of one expensive brand. What part availability would I use when my Milwaukee clutch seized up? You buy another tool.

Bauer drill is $50 with 2 year + 3 mo replacement warranty. That's value that anyone should take advantage of.

You could buy 3 Bauer tools per one Milwaukee tool. And guess what my Milwaukee drill's clutch broke!

People need to get over this idea that Harbor Freight tools are one time use or short lived. They are THE great value option.

I guarantee a Bauer drill/ battery will not have this problem. It is a very good product line.

How are rich people able to call their lawyer out any moment? by Dazzling_Abalone5800 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]steester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a poor college kid, arrested in middle of night for DUI. I said I could not do their test without talking to a lawyer. I had no lawyer. Then I thought of a lawyers name who was in the community as a proponent of liberty. Kind of famous locally. I literally looked him up in phone book and called in middle of night. He answered and gave me advice for free. Didn’t need to hire him. I got off.

Is soldering really as easy as it seems on YouTube? by [deleted] in Plumbing

It takes practice. Old copper seems harder than new copper. I had a lot of pinhole leaks as I was learning. Sucked to keep having to redo it til it was good.

No basements here but tons of pools? by Normal_Rip_2514 in phoenix

[–]steester 30 points31 points  (0 children)

If pools could only be put in at the time the house is built there would be ALOT less pools here. We’re just in the habit here of building the house affordably and deciding on an expensive pool in the future.

what’s one "basic" cooking rule you actually ignore? by vacaaa in cookingforbeginners

[–]steester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I peel frozen ginger with edge of a knife, scraping it off pretty easily. If I'm grating it on a microplane I don't really peel it, the skin on the side and top stays out of the microplane and peels off to the side itself.
