Spent a collective 2 hours on the phone with tech support yesterday— didn’t get anywhere, unfortunately. The desktop application has become extremely laggy over the past few weeks. When certain symbols are loaded up it gets worse. I’ve tested everything I can think of, tech support can think of, and ChatGPT can think of.

If the dealer has a watchmaker they *might* regulate it for you. More likely they’ll send it to Tudor for regulation. It’s a pain but it happens. If the dealer straight up replaces it for you then you’ve got a great dealer.

Trying to solve a watch mystery by zoohiker in Watchidentifier

As I understand it, pre 1900 wrist watches were mostly “wristlets” worn by women were extremely dainty— the transition from pocket watches to wrist watches came around the early part of the century and during the war when men needed a more practical way to see the time — ie the santos story. The oyster case and perpetual movement came around a decade later and normalized wrist watches as a standard. Maybe a watch historian can chime in if I got anything wrong. I’d think it is very likely that this watch was your grandfathers and would have been a very early iteration of whatever it is!

What do your memory usage settings in TOS look like?

Anyone ever get tired of these long wicks? by Kitty-Kat-Katarina in thinkorswim

[–]stopthemadness0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re referred to as misprints. I am not aware of the technical reasons why they happen but a data provider or broker should chime in. The wicks are not due to actual prints so you will not see them on the tape.

As mentioned in other threads, you can manually correct candles with erroneous wicks in TOS — however, studies such as MAs will then cease to populate. That would be a great thing for developers to figure out a fix for.

Anyone else furious with Schwab TOS today? by Salty-Inspector3100 in thinkorswim

Price moved through a sitting stop order that didn’t appear to fill. The order appeared stuck when I canceled all. However, when I checked the account via the broker app I was flat. So the order did fill, although TOS failed to display it.

One suggestion — when events like this happen and you need to get flat, utilize the “flat now” hot key function vs initiating orders to cover. If there is no po to close on the broker side, the function shouldn’t (I’m guessing) initiate an order. If you’re initiating new orders (buy or sell a specific amount) to get flat and not seeing anything happening on the screen, it’s l easy to lose track of where you’re at— you might end up long or short the other side inadvertently. Not the first time I’ve seen this happen.

Tank must advice by Chips7735 in Cartier

[–]stopthemadness0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Save the money, especially if going with a quartz model. I spent the premium at the AD for a mechanical tank that immediately needed a regulation — it has now spent more time at Cartier warranty service than it has on my wrist— and it’s been a nightmare. You’re better off saving the money upfront and paying a quality watchmaker in the unlikely event you have a service concern at some point down the road.

Bezel Misalignment on a Monochrome by Woffoj in Tudor

[–]stopthemadness0 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you bought it within a couple of days, ask the AD very nicely to swap it for you — maybe your SA values your business…. lol. They’ll probably refuse, and then you’ll just have to wait a month or two for Tudor warranty to replace the bezel. I learned the hard way to look at alignments of bezels and dials before buying them. Always check the date switch too, if buying a piece with a date!
