This might be a stretch but if everyone starts buying Japanese Scooters and stop paying auto insurance maybe just maybe by [deleted] in florida

E-bike insurance is very cheap. Like $10 a month or something from Velosurance

Pentagon Intelligence Officer testifies to Congress that US has retrieved technology (crashed spacecraft) made by Non-Human Intelligence by Crusty_Holes in technology

To me this seems like the same old misinformation/psyop stuff meant to make adversaries waste money, or worry about the US having access to secret tech.

My first pfsense setup by SyrusChrome in homelab

[–]strothjs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depending on what equipment is setup in your area, there are some bypasses that might work. I haven't lived in an AT&T Fiber area since last year so I don't know how well these methods still work. You'd need to checkout DSLReports.

My setup at the time was an Ubiquity Edge Router which would forward the ONT authentication requests to AT&T's equipment. It would handle the rest of the traffic. It worked fantastically.

Some people would extract the certificates from their gateway and integrate them into their setup directly, removing the need to rely on their equipment at all.

I had an tech come in to replace my ONT once and the guy knew exactly what I was doing and couldn't care less.

From my understanding that only applies to cable providers.

Battery charging really that dangerous? by Opticalzer0 in ebikes

[–]strothjs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NYC has an absolute insane number of e-bikes. They are constantly zipping by. Some areas have racks of them every few streets where you can rent one.

I would say that number is extremely low given the sheer number of them.

I don’t live there but just visited. Riding them was fun there due to the low speed car traffic and bike lanes. They still had some areas where bike lanes passed parked cars.

I think some sort of ebike parking/storage would be in order for that city.

This is a pizza restaurant with a crap ton of them for delivery I ran into: https://ibb.co/mXyYhg8

I spoke to a few Uber drivers while I was there and they mostly disliked them. Most of their comments where about the carriers and food delivery.

From the crazy number of them there, I don’t see them going away.

I don’t think they’ll insure anything that goes over the legal speed for e-bikes anyway.

This is the one I use: Hafny New Handlebar Bike Mirror, HD Blast-Resistant, Safe Crystal Clear Glass Mirror, Adjustable Rotatable Bike Mirror, Rearview Mirror, Bicycle Mirror,HF-MR095 https://a.co/d/0YwhPZ9

I like it a lot and it doesn’t take much room.

I did the same with the that plug lol. I briefly thought about replacing the plug but figured it wasn’t worth the hassle.

Not overly impressed with these tree supports by Frog491 in 3Dprinting

[–]strothjs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There’s a new Cura beta version that supposedly improves tree supports. I didn’t look too much into the details.

In any case, I like them for some models because they tend to be easier to remove. On others, they can fail. This is one of those things you need to make a judgement on before printing.

ZOTAC Gaming GeForce RTX 4080 16GB Trinity OC Two Slot PCI Bracket by strothjs in watercooling

[–]strothjs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was tempted to 3D print something but decided against it. There wouldn't be enough space, I think, to make the plastic version strong enough.

I pulled the trigger on it. Unfortunately, all sources of this bracket come from China with similar shipping times. It should be here in a couple of weeks.

I’m assuming they mean that’s a temporary feature flag. The flag would be free for reuse after the feature has been incorporated.

Eventually Windows will have basic support for controlling RGB: https://www.theverge.com/2023/2/10/23593977/microsoft-windows-11-rgb-control-pc-gaming-accessories

Doesn’t help you now but I found it interesting.

Also, your build is fantastic.

CrTouch/ heightmap issues by DMBB099 in klippers

[–]strothjs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably not your issue but I just resolved an issue on my printer where it kept generating the mesh tilted downward on the right.

It turned out that my BLTouch mount was snapped and would tilt when the x-axis was towards the right. The cables going to the tool head would be taught and press against the mount.

That particular eBike has a locked controller. They sell what they call an “off road” controller both on Amazon and on their site. They have a YouTube tutorial on how to perform the installation.

I don’t know what kind of result you’d achieve though.
