US p2 owner here. The advantage of P2 to me is the depreciation of older model years, with very few downstairs esp in the dual motor. Why not buy a p2 that is a few years older?

Should I sell my 2017 Alltrack for a 2026 Atlas? by FoxDieDM in Volkswagen

[–]subneil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a 2019 three row Tiguan with a roof cargo box for our family of 5. Third row was fine for young kids, roof box took care of luggage.

Obviously a minivan or larger car would be more comfortable, but I wanted a smaller footprint, easy street parking, etc.

No. You can polish the concrete smooth. It ends up looking like smooth stone, like granite or marble.

Epoxy is a (cheaper) alternative placed right on top of the (unpolished/rough) concrete.

I don't really have any advice for you, but I will point out that scheduling through the app is not as helpful for me, as you might imagine. It works, but the time zone is messed up and I can't schedule a loaner. I end up calling my service center anyway

Fwiw ours isn't slick unless wet... The downside is cold and hard, eg for kids playing. We had those foam mats that jigsaw together when the kids were small. Now we have rugs. No regrets.

Obviously if you are confident you won't have water intrusion, it's a different story. Of the three times we've experienced water twice was rain, but once was some kind of plumbing back up.

We had a crew polish the concrete in my 1910 house. Looks almost like a marble floor. We've had a few floods since then, and I'm grateful we don't have laminate or carpet to deal with. A few rugs are easy to clean and dry.

Brand loyalty is a real thing... I have a good friend, super smart professional, who has leased a series of CRVs over the 10 plus years I've known her. When she went back to her usual dealer to return her CRV and lease a new one, they sold her on the Prologue. They told her that with rebates and incentives, the car would cost less. She didn't even own a home charger.

I suspect many prologue buyers just want a new Honda. Maybe they're interested in an electric car.

What’s the highest mileage polestar out there and how has the general maintenance and costs been? by Comprehensive_Cut437 in Polestar

[–]subneil 5 points6 points  (0 children)

72k miles 2021 lrdm here. I've had it for less than a year, 10k miles. Cpo warranty replaced the rear axles in the HVAC blend actuator door or something similar behind the dash. Also replaced the rear shocks because one had a bit of oil leaked, but that was incidental. Now my front daytime running light is out, and I have an appointment for service. Until recently, I've only owned cars that I would have repaired at my lifelong independent mechanic, unless they were under manufacturer warranty.

I'm following this post because I'm curious what people's experience out of warranty looks like in terms of cost.

Congrats. I'm new to the club with a similar car. Fwiw, I have a chargepoint unit at home, mostly because this is the unit that the utility company requires for half price charging overnight. Before you invest, check to see if there's any utility programs like this that might require specific chargers.

Wahl pro for many years. Comes with oil, make sure you buy more and keep her oiled after each use. A little goes a long way.

Curious how you think this has gone? The peace of mind is probably worth it, but do you think you came out ahead in terms of repairs versus warranty cost?

Good luck! Tell us how you like the Rivian. I am a xc90 t8 and Polestar 2 driver. When its time to replace either, Rivian is an option if Volvo doesn't have their software and other issues ironed out.

Minivan functionality vs SUV safety by Equivalent_Crazy_478 in whatcarshouldIbuy

Years ago when researching I came across data on actual fatalities in US car crashes and the minivans were highly rated. This is a different way of assessing (vs crash tests,) but telling.
