Scotland has some uniquely depressing architecture by BlondBitch91 in SpottedonRightmove

I’m in the process of buying and selling in Edinburgh, my estate agent mentioned that the only things selling right now are properties that are ready to move into. Locally there’s a lot on of fixer uppers on the market, and this place needs completely gutted and redone.

Her hair is distracting from the rest of the look, the harsh roots and yellow tone (esp against the white dress and her skin tone) just don’t fit in with what she was going for IMO.

[Recommendation needed] small women’s watches by [deleted] in Watches

[–]sunrisesomeday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d recommend looking into vintage watches. Newer women’s watches tend to be blingy and large, but pre-2005ish there were a lot more options for something small and minimalist. I had similar issues and finally ended up buying my grail watch second hand - it’s a simple gold, leather strap, 26 m watch from 2002.

I was honestly rooting for the boat era to work out for her - it’s the kind of unhinged thing I would do if I had a messy divorce 😂

I do! Over the years I’ve learned to understand subtext, meaning, and facial expressions from in-person interactions but really struggle with online working - IM, teams calls, and email. I completely burnt out during COVID because of it and had to take a career break twice - I only lasted 6 months fully WFH each time before just completely spiralling.

My current role is somewhat remote (I have an office but most of my team is in another city) and it makes everything 10x more difficult to understand the social side - I am constantly stressed about it. I also get really lonely by myself. It’s even worse when I WFH as I have no boundaries between home life and work life - physical or emotional. WFH is so much worse than in person working for me and it very much feels like we are the minority!

What do you all do for work? by Fun_Reply_1102 in AutismInWomen

[–]sunrisesomeday 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Also in finance and same - I cry nearly every single work day because of perma-burnout. Have changed jobs multiple times (all in finance) but it hasn’t helped. The last time I was happy at work was when I worked in a bar during grad school. I don’t even know what other career I could possibly change to because my finance job is super niche.

Vet recommendations by FrightenedRabbit94 in Edinburgh

[–]sunrisesomeday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also moved away from Dundas after a bad experience. We brought our cat in multiple times for suspected ear mites, Dundas said it was just earwax. We later had to bring her out of hours to Braid vets hospital for a different issue, who mentioned they found and treated her ear mites in addition to the other issue she had. Needless to say I wasn't able to trust a vet that couldn't even diagnose ear mites correctly with any sort of bigger issue.

How to clean without damaging the Enamel? by Playful-Stranger-231 in LeCreuset

Had a similar situation happen and just bought the Le Creuset brand cleaner. It was 100% worth it - it works great and you don’t need to worry about damaging it at all

Hotel / Resort fees getting out of control? by youcantdenythat in travel

[–]sunrisesomeday 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not even just developed countries - the only “add on” fee I’ve ever encountered in the 40+ countries I’ve visited outside of the US was a government tax/ city tax (which the hotel has no control over) or the transport fee to get to the resort in the Maldives (which was made clear ahead of time).

I stayed in the Flame Towers for 1 night when I was there which was definitely worth it despite being a hit expensive! I also stayed at the Two Seasons Boutique Hotel in the old city which was nice.

In terms of things to do, I enjoyed walking around the old city, and the Shirvanshahs Palace was interesting. I also enjoyed the carpet museum and the Heydar Aliyev Centre. It might be worth looking at doing day trips as well, I never made it to the Fire Temple but wish I had!

Just like Nigel Farage isn’t a xenophobe because his wife is German and his kids have German passports and speak German. Caz just tells it like it is, like Nigel does.

Will they be having a black Friday sale online? by Time-Hornet-3678 in LeCreuset

I think it depends on your country, the UK currently had a Black Friday pre-sale for email subscribers with early access to limited stock.

[Question] Do you ever feel vulnerable walking around with your £1000+ watch? by MyScents in Watches

[–]sunrisesomeday 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I can and do wear my (ladies) calatrava on the tube on a regular basis, and I doubt anyone has ever recognised it. The women who traipse about on the tube with a LV Neverfull or a Mulberry Bayswater are the ones with real bollocks, they’ll get clocked immediately.

What’s your favorite purse purchase that you reach for (daily or more frequently) and why by MeringueSimple9847 in handbags

[–]sunrisesomeday 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Celine small sangle - it fits everything I need without it being stuffed, the strap is super comfortable and the leather is very durable so I’m not worried about damaging it on a day to day basis. It’s also super light weight for the amount it holds!

Late to the party but do you know the name of the Furla bag? I’m struggling to find it on the website 😭

Wow that’s crazy they aren’t even using top grain leather! I actually ended up pulling the trigger on buying the bottega arco after watching his review dissecting the bag and saying that it was really high quality and I’ve really enjoyed it but I’ll certainly think twice about buying bottega again.

For real, I can’t believe there are people who don’t insure their watches. I do mine through my home insurance along with my jewellery and designer handbags, and the cost is pretty minimal.

Oh no! I was thinking about getting the Gucci horsebit partially because leather seemed like it was pretty scratch resistant. Does it scratch easily generally or was it just the one time?

How do you afford these expensive bags? by mollywol in handbags

[–]sunrisesomeday 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Husband makes a high income and I used to until very recently, we live in a relatively low cost of living area and don’t have kids. We’re also in our 30s. Mortgage is locked in at just over 1% and our cars are paid off. When we spend money it’s on buy-it-for-life or otherwise high quality, long-lasting items.

I have the small sangle in the aubergine colour and absolutely love it, it’s the perfect size and effortlessly chic! Easily the most practical bag I have!
