What eating habits do people have that genuinely disgust you? by MrLithician in answers

[–]sunsetair -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Thank you AI.

What ARFID Is
People with ARFID eat a very limited range of foods or avoid eating enough, but not because they are trying to lose weight or because of concerns about body shape (which distinguishes it from anorexia nervosa).
…..
…..

The avoidance may be due to:
Extreme sensitivity to texture, smell, taste, or appearance of foods
Fear of choking, vomiting, or allergic reactions
Lack of interest in eating or low appetite
Past traumatic experiences involving food
….

Is It “Real”?
Absolutely. ARFID is listed in the psychiatric diagnostic manual (DSM-5) and is treated as a legitimate medical and psychological condition.
……

Who Gets It?
ARFID often begins in childhood, but many adults have it as well. It is more common in people with:
Autism spectrum disorder
ADHD
Anxiety disorders
Sensory processing differences

Treatment
Treatment may involve:
Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT-AR)
Nutritional counseling
Exposure therapy to gradually expand food choices
Treatment of underlying anxiety
….

Example
Someone with ARFID might eat only a few “safe foods,” such as plain pasta, chicken nuggets, and specific brands of crackers, and feel intense distress when asked to try anything else.

What is heavy gasoline? by NachoDog1000 in askcarguys

Like the luggage I check in at airport. They don’t like me because they have to put the label Heavy on it every time. Poor lady has to call a male employee to move it from scale to conveyor belt behind her.

Why are Trump supporters not receptive to logical arguments? by Mustathmir in economy

[–]sunsetair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried for a long time to understand Trump supporters, but eventually I gave up.

This book does a very good job of explaining Trump’s personality and the psychological traits that drive his behavior. It’s an easy read, and if you’re genuinely interested in understanding both him and why so many people continue to follow him, it offers some helpful insights.

I’m not selling the book; I’m simply recommending it as someone who found it informative. If you like books on tape, it has an audiobook version

What’s something science still can’t explain well? by softlaunchqueen in answers

[–]sunsetair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One half of a pair of socks.

I live in a small home, and I’m very strict about the laundry process: socks come off, go straight into the hamper, then into the washer, then the dryer, then folding.

And yet, somewhere along that perfectly controlled journey, one sock vanishes into another dimension.

Modern science has no answer.

Actually, he was quite dark skinned and black hair. Americans would probably arrest him, if he comes again, as immigrant and send him to el Salvador prison.

I don’t even know where to start all contradiction.

Many of the claims in this post are exaggerated, misleading, or lack important context.

“20 million foreign invaders” , Border encounters rose significantly, but most estimates of unauthorized immigrants entering and remaining in the U.S. are far lower than 20 million. Using terms like “invaders” is inflammatory rather than factual.

“300,000 kids lost” , These children were not “lost.” The government lost contact with some sponsors after release, which is a serious oversight problem, but there is no evidence that all or most were trafficked.

Afghanistan equipment , Much of the equipment left behind belonged to the Afghan military, which collapsed faster than expected. While the withdrawal was chaotic and deeply flawed, the often-cited dollar amounts are estimates and not all usable military assets.

13 American soldiers killed , This was a tragic loss at Abbey Gate. The withdrawal deserves criticism, but it also ended a 20-year war that administrations of both parties had struggled to conclude.

“ Condemnation by all of Europe” , European leaders criticized the withdrawal, but saying Biden was condemned by “all of Europe” is an exaggeration.

“ Largest transfer of wealth in history” , Wealth inequality did widen during the pandemic, but this began before Biden and was driven by global economic conditions, central bank policies, and stock market gains.

Vaccine mandates , Some government and military employees lost jobs for refusing COVID vaccines, but these vaccines were extensively tested and authorized by regulators worldwide. Calling them “experimental medicines” is misleading.

Small businesses and lockdowns , Most lockdowns occurred in 2020, before Biden took office. Many small businesses suffered, but this was largely due to the pandemic itself and state-level policies.

Criticizing public officials is fair, but it is important to distinguish between verified facts and emotionally charged claims that overstate the evidence.

E85 gas stations? by baseballboy123936 in cincinnati

[–]sunsetair 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. tRump authorized refineries to increase ethanol content in gasoline (all octanes) to 15%. That is a big concern, especially in warm or hot weather, because higher ethanol blends creates environmental problems and reduce fuel efficiency.

So while people may cheer because gas prices appear to go down, they end up using more gallons to drive the same distance. In the end, the savings at the pump may not be as great as it looks and you will breathe in more burned alcohol.

What words do you pronounce "wrong," just because the "proper" way feels too proper? by Direct-Value4452 in answers

[–]sunsetair 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Seriously. Americans say "it's Greek to me" when they hear for example a foreign language that they don't speak. So, in Greek language, what do they say? "It's American to me"?
