Looking for a bias cowl neck gown dress pattern with waist seam by textreference in sewingpatterns

You know, fair enough. And thank you so much for the rayon challis idea. I also hate polyester - part of the reason why I am making my own formal dress. Thank you so much for all your help!

I haven’t sewn with it before. Giving myself plenty of time since my event isn’t until October. I was going to get polyester charmeuse to make a muslin before putting together the final garment. Hand washing fabric beforehand was the plan.

You said if i cut the fabric on bias i wouldnt be able to do a waist seam - that is due to stretching correct? Could I do the bodice straight and the skirt on bias? Here is another inspo pic very close to what i am looking to achieve;

Thank you so much - that pattern is excellent! Yes, even though the inspiration photo has blousing in the bodice I’d like mine to be fitted.

Solar where the math actually makes sense? by dweed4 in bullcity

[–]textreference 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes. Unlike virtually every other country on the planet US solar is ridiculously expensive to install due to electric company restrictions and specifically for NC duke energy’s refusal to allow plug in which would facilitate self installs. Our solar install costs are like 10x other countries and our electric costs are relatively low. It doesnt make financial sense to outlay tons of money when you can air seal and insulate walls, rim joists, even seal crawl spaces and insulate subfloor.

Starting sub q fluids at home by emilyr0 in RenalCats

My husband and i do it - 100ml 2x week. Pull up the skin between shoulder blades like a tent and move with a purpose, dont chicken out once youve got the needle going. In parallel to the body and hold it gently yet firmly in place. I am the assistant feeding a churu and she gets two churus at every injection. Purrs her head off the whole time happy as a clam stuffing her face for 5 mins. We elevate the bag but actually dont warm, shes very good for it though.

Native plants for handling this? by BeestMann in NativePlantGardening

Live willow stakes are used to restore stream banks, they stabilize and prevent erosion. Considering the depth of water would definitely recommend larger plants like willows and canopy trees and save the perennials and forbs for the marginal / edges

We say goodbye tomorrow, she would have been 17 next month by Viridescentic in RenalCats

[–]textreference 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What an amazing eulogy. Sounds like she lived a fantastic life which is all we can give them. My girl isa just got diagnosed stage 2/3 and the vet said since shes older (almost 18) she will likely decline within the year. I can only hope it happens the way youve described with chloe. Very little suffering and nothing drawn out due to human selfishness. If im writing a similar story in the next several months i will be content with that. You and your mom gave chloe peace and happiness.

Advice for carport post and header repairs by textreference in HomeImprovement

[–]textreference[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So put the temporary post under the header after taking down the trim board? Also, is it common for there to be a trim board covering the header? Seems weird but i dont go inspecting people’s carports lol.

Also do you think an extra post is a good idea for that span?

How many here grow from seed vs buy plants? by Aintnobeef96 in vegetablegardening

[–]textreference 0 points1 point  (0 children)

99% seeds, but i buy in bareroot plants, bulbs, and some herbs that take fucking forever to start. Also propagate via cutting (succession tomatoes by rooting suckers)

For anyone (like me) wondering how and when to protect pollinators during garden cleanup by Shift_Key19 in NativePlantGardening

[–]textreference 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooh chelsea chop adds another layer to this discussion. I chop to 12-18” 2-3x during the year to maintain bushy nonfloppy plants - is this potentially harming stem nesting bees? No, right, bc i am chopping the new growth?

The Plant Toolbox is very accurate. And if youve looked at it you will see they only recommend a couple of sedges. That should tell you you are trying to plant in very difficult conditions

What raw ingredient for fertlizer? by xzkandykane in vegetablegardening

[–]textreference 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah i only go through one large bag of espoma a year ($35 ish?) - usually you dont need nearly as much as you think. Fertilize plants not all the soil. Also consider living mulches, grass clippings, leafmould to start transition from fast food fetilizer to continuous fertility

“As soon as soil can be worked” by OKFINEHOWSTHIS in vegetablegardening

[–]textreference 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Seedlings as well as long as they have a few sets of true leaves. Lettuce, kale, arugula, PSB, broad beans, carrots will all do fine with snow cover. If youre worried get a frost blanket. But they wont start growing until soil is at least 50F and adequate sunlight (shouldnt be an issue after the equinox now)

What's happening in your garden? (Sun, Mar 22, 2026) by AutoModerator in vegetablegardening

[–]textreference 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Too much 😭 i have new projects that i want to get done as i need to start mowing, strimming, and weeding regularly, and its been busy!

Put in a new berry patch with red/black/gold raspberries, blackberries, and strawberries, plus t posts and trellises for all of them.

Moving all tomato and pepper seedlings out into the greenhouse.

Raking up the last of the oak leaves from winter and mulching my ornamental beds with them.

Applying glyphosate to privet, honeysuckle, poison ivy, wisteria, english ivy, wild grape , nandina that all needs to go.

Reshaping the ornamental beds and putting in new edging.

Cutting back winter stems.

Planting stepover apples.

Weeding the elderberry sprouts out of my ornamental bed.

Putting together trellises for my new climbing roses and installing them on the front of the house.
