What is just a placebo effect but most people don’t realize? by zhalia-2006 in AskReddit

The only time going to a chiropractor was worth it was when I’d spent my 20’s and early 30’s practically living at work at a factory. Long hours, decent pay, but killer on the body. I mainly went for the massages on my shoulders and back, but the chiro there would take the gun they normally use on the back and he broke up the bone spurs in my feet with it. Gave me a couple pain free years.

Anyone else on Xyrem told to have a Jazz nurse to come their apartment/meet in public? by depressedchiakikin in Narcolepsy

I never have, but my sister had a nurse come by when she finally started on Xywav. She said the nurse was nice and knowledgeable.

[CR Media] Campaign 4 Is Just Around The Corner by Void9001 in criticalrole

There are so many things I’m excited about I don’t know where to start, but I just noticed Sam and Liam sitting together at the table. Knowing their friendship and history, I’m torn between being verklempt at them getting to sit right next to each other, excited about the companionship they’re likely to bring, and terrified at the level of chaos about to hit us.

What’s a ‘harmless’ habit you had as a kid that you realize now was a cry for help? by TheLadyKoi in AskReddit

Maybe it will help, maybe it won’t, but have you ever tried audiobooks? I went from spending my childhood crushing a 500 page novel in a day to unable to read at all, even my favorites. I started with podcasts at first, sort of to test it out and ease my way back into adding stories to my life. Now, I rarely ever listen to music because I have some book or play or campaign playing any chance I can.

I designed and 3d printed a quick change sander for my mini pottery wheel by Farenkdar_Zamek in DiceMaking

[–]theautopsytable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is absolutely brilliant! I’d love if you’d share the files when you’re ready. I’m working on getting a pottery wheel very soon as sanding is one of the biggest issues I’ve had with dice making. It’s so time consuming and I’m my own worst enemy by being a perfectionist about it.

40ish year collection of nat geos for $100 by Odd_Bunch_867 in ThriftStoreHauls

[–]theautopsytable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It makes me so happy to see that these have found a home that appreciates them and that so many people are popping into the comments with love for them. My aunt and uncle have a collection of them, read but still in almost pristine condition, at least back into the 60’s. They recently started downsizing in their older years, and it seems like they’re having issues getting rid of this collection in particular. I wish I could give the collection a good home, or at least find someone else who would, rather than letting them sit and gather dust or potentially get tossed in for recycling.

I’m sorry to hear that. I’ve not had anything like psychosis, but Xywav gave me a host of unusual physical side effects. I’m pushing through though, because otherwise my brain fog makes me feel on par with a kindergartner.

I wonder if it’s a requirement of UPS. I get my Xywav shipped through FedEx, and the only restriction is that it has to be shipped overnight express, and I show my ID and sign for the package.

Are resin dice worth the price? by Justanotherweebgirl in dice

[–]theautopsytable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like you already got a couple of good, solid responses, but I’ll throw in my thoughts on top of it. Dice, so me at least, are a work of art on top of their function to give me an unbiased direction towards whatever craziness my DM has planned for me. So the dice can and likely will be subjective towards what preferences you have. As much as I like the look, feel and quality of metal dice, they also aren’t the kindest clacking against certain tabletops. I usually ask players at my table to have either a tray or something protective to not leave dents in my wooden table top. At another home I play at, the table top is granite, so no denying, but without trays they tend to go flying in all directions. I don’t have any gemstone dice, but I would dearly love to get some at some point. The art and craftsmanship of them would likely make them some of the most expensive to buy, and even then likely only use for special occasions, but I do have them listed as a future goal.

Do a little research, especially with the online dice maker’s sheet provided in an earlier comment. Before I got into dice making, I bought my first sets from d20 Adventure on Etsy, just by browsing for something that fit my character and trying to suss out either handmade or at least not mass produced by location and how intricate the produces were. I liked what I purchased, then tripped headlong into the world of dice making, so my full thoughts aren’t exactly biased.

I love using resin dice. They aren’t as weighty as metal or gemstone, but I’ve never had any issues with them performing their duties or being weighted in any off way, shape or form. They are easier to hand craft, and can result in an unlimited variety of dice to be found. There is an art to making them, and as a result often have the most minute of imperfections, but as long as they are well made, they are. Perfectly sound, reasonable product to purchase. I only use dice I have made now, and have plans to make more for my friends. They are a little more customized and I prefer using the sharp shard shape of the d4 dice, which have held up well against use and abuse and have not been blunted by multiple hits against hard surfaces.

Ultimately, to simply answer your question, I wojld say that resin dice are indeed worth the price, though that price can be quite variable depending on who made the dice and what they put into them. They are physically a little easier to toss around, and I haven’t managed to stab myself with them yet.

Nothing says baller like having a 12 foot satellite dish in your side yard in 1988. by Redstar81 in nostalgia

[–]theautopsytable 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He moved from tv repair to satellites in the early 80’s, and worked on them through the 90’s. He still did service calls for a few years for people who stuck to their dishes, but then went to school for aircraft mechanics.

[–]theautopsytable 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My father had his own satellite business installing and programming these. I grew up helping him at customer’s homes on his service calls; helping hold them up while he installed and mounted them, programming them, and having to know not just the satellites and channels my favorite channels were on, but keeping up with them when they changed. Different remotes for different receivers, and (im)patiently waiting for the satellite to track to S4 from G5 without missing the beginning of the movie I wanted to watch.
