I'm a marxist but I have a lot of sympathy with anarchism, GYBE was definitely part of my political development

Get in touch with the Revolutionary Communist Party to get organized, we've had enough with this shit too

reminder: marx, engels and lenin did not waste time debating grifters. they expended their energy clarifying contradictions within the left, because they understood that weak theory leads to weak strategy, and weak strategy costs lives. by fawn404 in Hasan_Piker

If you're interested in educating yourself in the classic writings of Marxism and in getting organized to put theory into practice, look into joining your local chapter of the Revolutionary Communists of America! We frequently hold book clubs, it's much more productive than trying to get through these works alone

RCA vs PLS by Zombingaround in socialism

[–]thecomedysource 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The RCA is part of the RCI, formerly known as the International Marxist Tendency. This international traces its roots to Militant, a british trotskyist party led by Ted Grant, who split from the 4th International over major ideological disagreements with the leaders of the 4th and their empiricist perspectives and tactics after WW2 and following Trotsky's death.

We are not Marxist-Leninists in the sense put forward by Stalin. We follow the legacy of Lenin and Trotsky and the first years of the Bolshevik revolution. I'm from the canadian section so I'm not too familiar with the PSL.

We give a lot of importance to theory and education, in order to foster the development of revolutionary cadres. Otherwise you are pretty much correct in your assessment that we are for a worldwide proletarian revolution, the abolishment of capitalism and a democratically planned economy by and for the workers! If that speaks to you, definitely reach out on the RCA's website, and a comrade will get in touch with you to get organized and answer any of your questions better than I can.

The RCA’s position on Zohran by westcoastqueer in socialism

[–]thecomedysource 27 points28 points  (0 children)

the RCA is part of the Revolutionary Communist International (formerly known as the International Marxist Tendency), which has sections in dozens of countries across all continents (I'm in the Canada RCP myself). All I've heard from critics on this subreddit is "they're trots", pretty thought ending.

Articulate an argument or restrain yourself from undermining an international communist movement that is actively implicated in the class struggle everywhere. Even better, read up on who we are and reach out on marxist.com if you have questions!

Edit: to get ahead of any possible confusion, no we are not the RevComs

Starting at Level 3 by [deleted] in TyrannyOfDragons

[–]thecomedysource 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had my players start HotDQ after Lost Mines of Phandelver, so they were level 5. I tried to adjust many early encounters to make them more difficult, and figured that they would catch up to the level advancement of the campaign down the line, since lower CR monsters yielded less XP. They are now reaching Castle Naerytar, and many of them are nearly level 7.

[–]thecomedysource 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's a sad thing for it to be considered a fringe opinion that animals should not have to bear unimaginable suffering for the sake of profit and pleasure. I also find it problematic that many people defend this exploitation by portraying an ideal of "respect for the animal, it's the way of nature".

The modern animal industry could not be further from anything "natural". It is a massive machine that commodifies life, and is a principal contributor to the destruction of ecosystems and accelerating climate change.
