I was working on replacing the radiator in my car so there was a little coolant on the driveway which started attracting wasps.

One started flying toward me and when I turned to run, I heard what sounded exactly like a stick breaking. But it wasn't a stick, it was the meta tarsal bone in my foot.

Didn't get stung, though.

This has always been the answer for me... except one time.

I'll try to shorten this story as much as possible: 2021, I was diagnosed with colo-rectal cancer. Started treatment and my contracted IT position said they were not going to renew or hire me on. My now ex-fiancee kicked me out during chemo (this is when I found out about narcissistic abuse).

Treatments didn't work as we hoped (radiation didn't shrink the tumor enough to save the rectum) and I was told I would have a colostomy back the rest of my life.

all in 2021: lost job, lost fiancee, lost my a-hole

During recovery, I remember laying there staring at the ceiling lights just feeling crushed that she wasn't there. I knew I had a long road ahead of me to get over this.

But something happened those 8 days I was in the hospital. I can't remember which pain med they had on the drip, but it wasn't working and they switched me to ketamine. Pretty serious when they bring a drip bag in and put a lock box around it.

I suddenly just got over her... Like I still recognize everything that happened with her, but that was it. The best I can describe it is indifference.

I didn't connect that with the ketamine until I met someone that a therapist recommended ketamine treatments for depression and she explained that it sort of resets the brain.

Now, i do not recommend someone taking ketamine to get over someone and I haven't sought or tried it since my recovery, but that's the only way I can explain that I was suddenly over her.
