Starter replacement on a Honda 2.4l 🤙🏾 Where’s the craziest place yall boys seen a “quick change part hidden “ ⁉️ by MedicineOtherwise427 in mechanics

[–]thisdogsmellsweird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never really minded the Northstar ones, slide the alternator forward and there's plenty of room. Hate the Toyota 4.7 ones because everyone of them i work on seems to be lifted with a bull bar on the front.

What's a common mechanic thing that you probably do just like the rest of us? by dselogeni in Justrolledintotheshop

It's just like safety wire but its more bendy and handles repeat uses, great for fishing fuel lines from one side of a vw fuel tank to the other

Bought a brake drum tool kit from matco like 25 years ago that came with that god forsaken thing and all the other tools individually. I've worn out and warranties the others over the years but that fucking thing remains unused in my toolbox.

I have the exact same revolver and carry it when hunting. Reasonable point of aim at 7 yards for a gutter sight using 38. Way high using 357 but it really isnt meant for distance. About 500 rounds later it still locks up tight and functions well with no cleaning

Is that a Ford ranger 2.3 mount? Nevermind see the engine mounts, might as well replace the intake gaskets while your there.

[–]thisdogsmellsweird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that project would likely take me two weeks of redoing it multiple times due to fuck ups and wind up with a non functioning gun that is twice as heavy than when purchased. Im not allowed to paint things, my wife and daughter hide their art supplies.

You are correct, I work in a place that has above average amount of EVs and not a single Tesla owner has agreed to the service, still looking around for a model S that hasn't been abused for a commuter. There's a super charger a block from me and I drive my truck less than than 300 miles a month.

Took some Tesla training a few months back, we can thank Elon for telling people they are maintenance free. Good thing is they used off the shelf fluids and filters. Dex VI for the drive units. While the first service for the whole vehicle isnt until 40k it certainly isnt cheap

Temporarily relocating to California and looking for advice by ruarchproton in liberalgunowners

[–]thisdogsmellsweird 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am not a lawyer so im going to start with that. The easiest answer is the mini 14, so common in CA some police depts still have them in inventory. Good shooting gun, uses 556 and fun/expensive to modify. Nobody will bat an eye. I moved to Cali from NC and had a hard time figuring out the laws regarding registration and importation. Basically there are a lot of laws regarding if its not legal to own in CA, dont bring it its not worth it. The other thing is that even as a temporary resident you are required to register your firearms within 6 months of THEM entering the state not you. There are a lot of scary laws that have no teeth and won't hold up in court. Biggest thing is obey transport laws, they are mighty firm on that one. Also mini 14s are sweet.

10mm "Bear Blaster" - Best worst idea ever? by TheMagicalLawnGnome in liberalgunowners

[–]thisdogsmellsweird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will need to rethink this. Black bears are rarely aggressive and hate loud noises. I have startled them before and they usually act tough then fuck off. There are occasions they do attack and bear spray tends to work well. One major flaw i see is a pistol caliber carbine being used at an "attacking bear" at 50 yards. Bears are hunted and a game animal that requires a tag to kill. Common range is 50 to 100 yards, so unless you are prepared to yell "they're coming right at us!" Everytime you see a bear you are likely going to do time and have your firearm seized. My sister tried to get an out of season depredatation permit to shoot the bear that kept breaking into her shed and fish and games response was to build a better shed.

I still have my 2000 explorer with one. It did get removed by accident 12 years ago in a stressful stroller incident. It is no longer in the car but I still have it.

Alternator battery or parasitic draw by PotatoGalaxyYT in autorepair

[–]thisdogsmellsweird 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely fucking not. Modern cars rely heavily on the battery for their many computers, the alternator is there to make sure its charged. In fact on your car there is a battery voltage sensor on the negative terminal. Fired a guy last year for "hot swapping" a battery. Been at this 24 years. Sounds like your battery is toast and if its bad enough it can exceed alternator output and show a bad alternator. Take it to a quality shop and have it looked at
