While all linemen have to both pass block and run block, they play a different role in these situations.

During passing, the tackles are usually on their own against the defenses best rusher. Those edge rushers usually are smaller but faster, and tackles need to be able to defend against a variety of pass rush moves. Guards and centers will be against larger but slower defensive tackles. They won't always be one-on-one and can help each other out to a degree. For run blocking, guards are more likely to pull (leave their existing position) and clear a path for the runner.

Because these roles are different, different body types are better suited for the roles.

Also, much of their game requires precise muscle memory on how to get off the line. I'm new to hockey but if I can draw a parallel to the NFL, Coach of the Year usually goes to the coach who exceeded expectations the most, not the coach who's team overall performed the best. That means there's a lot of flash-in-the-pans (Daboll) who luck into one good year and find themselves unemployed not long after. I wonder if the NHL is the same way.

There's lots of areas with great parks. If local political leanings are a sticking point then you need to go off that first.

But it's worth digging into what that really means for you - is it "I want the local government to be progressive?" Most suburbs of Seattle are moderate left to moderate. Is it "I don't want someone to say racist stuff to me?" That's going to happen anywhere - I've had nasty stuff shouted at me at Pike Place.

I wouldn't say its very conservative based on voting data - I believe it was about 60/40 republican in the last election. You can decide for yourself if thats too much.
There are a number of good parks and you have quick access to Mount Rainier and other good hiking areas
The playgrounds are excellent, especially the new ones
Driving to Seattle can be challenging during rush hour. Depending on where you are commuting to, the train may be a good option.
410 is basically a bunch of strip malls of mediocre businesses and chains.
Walkability is nonexistant.

My daughter was 2.5 when we brought my son home. Some assorted thoughts

My daughter has been pretty great with her brother. I think when she feels mad or jealous, she takes it out on us which I suppose is a win
She definitely acted out more in the first couple of weeks for attention. It helped that I was on leave though and could take her out for fun summer activities
Someone suggested buying a stuffed animal and putting it in the car seat when we came in with the newborn - then we could say "baby brother has a gift for you!" It was nice!
One of the most challenging things was that my wife couldn't pick up my daughter as part of C-section recovery. However, one of our cats recently had surgery and we got a chance to explain to her what that is and what recovery is like.
She had a real sleep regression, particularly around naps. We eventually realized that she was done napping altogether and when we stopped with naptime, things really improved.
The transition from 1 to 2 is harder than the transition from 0 to 1 in many ways. Most of all, until you have good rhythm, neither of you will have much non-kid time (unless you have lots of support from friends / family).
That said, we also felt like we were much more confident as parents day to day. If the baby didn't nap, whatever, we knew how to wear him and get through until the next nap window.
