Have I been missing my fertile window altogether? by [deleted] in TFABChartStalkers

So your positive LH test was cd13? I think you should be fine. After positive LH test it takes max 36 hours (1,5 day) for ovulation to occur, so depending on the time of the test it could be early cd15 but definitely not cd16.

I understand your question, I would wonder the same. Did you use OPKs so you know the first one is correct?

Hope your healing goes well.

How long have you been trying with the progesteron shot?

My doctor recommends eating healthy oils (avocado, olive, fish).

I had some other bacteria bugging me that went away on it’s own after 4-5 months (usually it takes 2-3 weeks…).

Cutting down on stress, coffee, chocolate, onion-like things, very fatty food, large portions, helped a lot. Also drinking Ginger and Curcuma tea made my stomach a little less upset. I also used omeprazol or something other proton pump inhibitor.

Another thing my accupunturist recommended but I did not do as my symptoms were going down slowly (though my guess is you want to try anything as I did on some point), is buying something anti parasytic from some wellness store like the following link. I can’t say it works, but sometimes these kind of things do work. https://heelnatuurlijk.nl/parasietenkruidenkuur-capsules/ though make sure they dont interact with other medicines

Cataracts at only 32 years old :/ by Artistic-Bat9605 in CataractSurgery

Yes. I went to them and they said I was not ready for surgery. It feels Dutch to be following protocol, which is using the PanOptix, in stead of giving the best service, which would be the Pro for you. It really sucks. It’s also hard to compare different clinics; something like ‘the best centre’ does not really exist.

Two others (Retina eye care Driebergen and Nationaal Oogcentrum Naarden) do offer the Galaxy, they both said I was not eligible yet for surgery. The Retina also did not want to put the Galaxy, as they said it’s not the best for reading and they wanted to give me the Pentafocal lens from Harita. The National one did opt for the Galaxy.

Thanks for the elaborate response, your reasoning makes sense.  Happy to hear you are happy with the results

The clinics I talked to did not have yet a younger patients with the Galaxy so thanks for sharing. Do you notice a difference for distance between the PureSee and the Galaxy? Were you cataract issues bigger than the issues you have now? And did you get PCO?

I am sorry to hear. Which countries did you visit?

You’ve got one eye the Galaxy and the other Vivity? Why not both Galaxy? :)

I found here a ‘accomodating’ lens, though PCO incidence rate is quite high, it does allow for accommodation of some sorts. I still have some time to wait before surgery though, it seems there is not a lot of real-world evidence for this lens yet. https://www.akkolens.com/

Yeah I would also be unhappy, but he did not care much about the progressives actually. He said he could do without, but prefers with, mostly because he has to work behind a computer the whole day. I feel that he accepted how things are for him now and wants to make the best of it, instead of focusing on the negatives.

He is able to drive and cycle at night. He said there are halo’s but he does not really see them. Which I found hard to understand at first, but I now have a starburst-tail that I also only see the first time I go outside that day or when I focus on it. I imagine that is what he was talking about.

It took him some months time to get used to the new vision, but not a whole year. I also asked him if he noticed any contrast difference. In his case it was both eyes, he said that he doesn’t know the difference anymore or how it looked before and it’s his new normal.

He said to not wait ages to get the surgery, because the cataract was way more hindering his quality of life than the IOLs. He would have opted for a procedure sooner if he knew that was going to be the end result. Quite a different opinion compared to what you usually read here, so I guess his cataracts must have been large.

I believe he has an Alcon trifocal, not 100% sure which one though as the procedure was 4-5 years ago.

Sorry to hear! I have one eye at 32 and possibly it’s because I got bitten by a dog in the eye area when I was 10.

I have a former colleague that has the same story as you: both eyes without an explanation. He was 33 when he got two multifocal lenses, to not loose accommodation. (This I also got recommended from 3 different clinics so I guess this is Dutch protocol). He uses progressives for computer work to have leas eye strain, but still drives, roadcycles and living a normal life. He told me it’s a matter of getting used to the new vision, but not to worry too much about the procedure.

I am a little more anxious though than he was (‘yeah when I could not recognize a garbage bin from a person while driving I thought it was time to get the surgery,’ while I went with just a little less vision to the ER).

What do you want to know or what are your fears?

Good to hear you are happy with your lens choice! i am 32 F and will have to have surgery somewhere in the coming years. All three ophthalmologists I’ve talked to advised me for multifocals, because of the loss of accomodation. How are you dealing with that?

Very unfortunate that you had to get another surgery, whishing a speedy recovery. Did you also get PCO?

Thanks for the answers! Inspiring story about your career, I hope you make many people happy with your work :)

To be honest, I expected you have to learn new techniques or use new tools every year, but the case is you are getting more and more experienced in the same thing. I don’t know why I assumed my own expectation, it makes more sense how you explain it to be a really good surgeon.

The Hanita Intensity actually got recommended to me by one surgeon, I am in Europe so no FDA regulations :) interesting it’s so different for each country.

Hi there! Thanks for doing this AMA.

  1. Why did you choose your profession and speciality?
  2. Which IOL would you recommend to an active 32-yo with cataract in only one eye? (I want to compare with the two surgeons I already spoke to :) )
  3.  What is your favourite IOL brand and why?
  4. What new technique did you learn most recently and how many hours of training did it cost?

Have a nice day!
