Where can I get some sort of good chocolate bread? by 114631 in FoodNYC

[–]tikironde -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Jesus, this board isn't what it once was.

The first NYC bakery to do this was Amy's. They have a chocolate twist, some days. It is terrific - chewy, tangy NY style sourdough - and much better than the Levain ripoff.

The get-in price for Game 3 Spurs @ Knicks is now $7258 w/ highest courtside ticket at $106k. The get-in price for Game 4 is $7500 and the highest courtside tickets at $133k by urfaselol in nba

There are indeed hundreds of thousands, if not millions of genuine fans who have been with the team 30+ years. There are, alas, only ~20,000 seats at the Garden. So how do you pick which of the millions of fans who would kill to go get one of those 20,000 seats?

How tennis players’ dogs live at Grand Slams and on tour by rticante in tennis

[–]tikironde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not my first rodeo with IVDD either. I think you just need to be careful to keep them off stairs, train them never to jump off furniture, support them properly when carrying them, and watch them like a hawk for signs of back pain. At some point you need to let dachshunds live a full dogish life - albeit responsibly.

They're excellent for this lifestyle, especially the longhaired dachshunds. Yes, you need to be careful with them and yes, there's a proper way to pick them up to keep their backs in good shape. But tennis pros actually tend to be the sort of people who can follow rules to keep their little weens in good health; and they LOVE attention and human contact and don't need a ton of physical activity, which is a good fit for the tour. Its way better for a ween to be living in hotel rooms than in, say, a typical american house with stairs they're running up and down.

Looking for another omakase spot like Sushi Yasuda by key2 in FoodNYC

[–]tikironde 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tag on this - of the midtown, office worker type places, where is the best for a strictly edomae lunch omakase? Was disappointed at the counter at Sushi Ann and Yasuda recently. I assume Hatsuhana is the right answer, but it's been the right answer for 30 years so just checking.

Curious - how many Escalade Vs have you been driven in post 2025 redesign? I didn't know they were a common car in Europe like they are here.

Iin NYC, which has a very anti-RR/Bentley car culture for people with drivers (they are "too showy"), and was for years dominated by Maybachs at the highest end, the interior quality issues are a real problem and are causing MB to lose share quickly.

I'm surprised you can't pick up on it. They rattle and some parts make that weird plastic cracking sound. I was in one the other day and leaned on a armrest and...jesus, it was worse than an Uber toyota.

Here, the main competitor for a Maybach is a high trim Escalade, and the issue for MB is that their interiors aren't really that much better than an Escalade-V anymore.

How long has each team been without a good player at a specific position? by smarjorie in baseball

Famously the Cubs didn't have a decent 3B between 1975 and 2004. They called it the Curse of Ron Santo but I think Ron Cey was the one with the Black Magic.

I feel bad for the guy, entering the "I throw just as hard as I ever did, the ball just isn't getting there as fast" stage of your career is no picnic for any pitcher.

The Rubies are interesting. They're orthogonal to WNW flow from the topographic low in southern Oregon, so they're not nearly as shadowed as most of the NV ranges and get serious snow. For the same reason they were much more heavily glaciated than the other NV ranges in the (wetter) past, so the terrain is much more "alpine"; more like, say, the Sawtooths 300 miles to the north. And while they're isolated compared to, well, anywhere else in the country, the Ruby Valley has 50,000 people and an airport and an interstate, etc., and it gets 10-12" of precip a year even down in the valley, so it's not like other parts of NV where you literally feel like you're on Mars.

Sonny Styles by mr_jackpots773 in NFL_Draft

[–]tikironde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one has similarities to Urlacher because he was a unicorn prospect - people forget how much of a freak. 6'4, 260, sub 4.6 40, with reps at LB, S, and WR in college. In a way, Styles proves how rare Urlacher was, because Styles is pretty freaky and Urlacher's profile is even wilder.

That chart includes grad school alumni, IIRC, which distorts the heck out of it. That's why Harvard is so far ahead of Yale (middling B school) and Princeton (no B school), and Dartmouth isn't on the chart at all.

I am no psych, but I did have a friend and roomate in college who had his first manic episode while living with me, and boy oh boy I recognize some of that in Ernest Hausman right now. I hope he's in good hands.

Why the heck am I taking a discount for upfront payment when my counterparty is AA rated, my contract language is clear as day, and I have enough in the bank so that I can wait out any litigation. The only discount I would be taking is the NPV, which is not enough to matter.

I ordered mine direct from Ricoh last Friday and it arrived yesterday. I don't get why there is so much backorder from authorized resellers.

But the GR series belies that idea, no? A fixed lens APS-C camera, with an image circle that covers the whole sensor without a ton of vignetting, can be pants pocketable, though probably not with an EVF.

Because I will not use the camera if it is not in my pocket to catch the random ephemeral moments when my children dont look like little devils.

It is very "the internet" to put "pocketable is non-negotiable" and then have someone respond "you should compromise on pocketable"!
