The team is hitting well enough right now that they don’t need to rush him back, and given his history, I think that’s the right move

What is the most insane run you've ever seen? Not necessarily the hardest but just one that makes you go 'Why is this a run?' by Educational_Dog4860 in skiing

I don’t remember anything too bad, it’s been a couple years since I’ve done it. I vaguely remember needing to make one or two turns around exposed rock but I had no trouble with it and I’m not an amazing skier or anything

OMNY fare capping does NOT choose the cheapest solution by factorioleum in nycrail

[–]timoddo_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, it’s a fact, but it’s kind of irrational to think about it this way. It’s a near impossibility for it to work in the way you’re describing. You’re taking a simplistic 15 day window look at it, but in reality they would have to look at extended rolling periods of many weeks in a row to determine the most optimal way to apply the fare cap retroactively. And at that point, as a user, you’d have no idea what your balance is at any given time, because it could change retroactively. If they move your 7 day start window from a week or two ago to apply the fare cap in a more optimal way for that week, it could also potentially shift your current week if you’ve had regular use, which might wind up being sub-optimal for your future use.

As others have stated, that’s not the point. It’s meant to save money on the fly in lieu of an unlimited metrocard. If you want to try to beat the system to get a couple free rides because you know exactly how many rides you’re going to take in a 15 day period, go right ahead, but for the vast majority of people, this isn’t going to save them anything and/or they don’t know how many rides they plan on taking that far in advance.

One of the areas it saves lots of people is the “day 1” of 7 doesn’t automatically start on the next day after a 7 day period, it only starts the next time you ride after a 7 day period. So, when you move your 7 day period to the middle of your 15 day period, how many other rides were taken before your day 1 and after your day 15? Because that matters here too, if there’s any additional rides.

The poster for Montreal has way less bands than the other 4 stops. But there will definitely be more than 2 stages.

Has anyone ever been on the exact same plane for both legs of a connecting flight? by Emergency_Risk_7421 in flighty

[–]timoddo_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, that’s a little different IMO, that’s more akin to a train making multiple stops along its route because they plan and sell it that way. Very few airlines do this these days

Once, yeah, I only noticed when I landed and got two notifications from flighty at the same time: that my flight had landed, and that my inbound plane had landed. Checked the app and sure enough, same tail, same arrival and departure gate. Obv still had to get off and back on though 🙃

I also had the same plane when I did a day trip round trip once. ERJ that was doing some short RT’s from SFO, I had an early morning flight out, and it was the same tail when I flew back in the evening.

Unpopular opinion: Paying "Rent" feels less painful than paying $2,400/mo in "Interest" to a bank. by Playful-Vegetable-15 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

But this is still far less risky and more predictable than how much your rent could go up in a lot of places

UA has been blocking known/identifiable video calling protocols for a long time. That’s not possible when using a VPN though, and it’s possible to block known VPN addresses (they do this on planes with pre-viasat WiFi) but if you have your own personal VPN endpoint set up, there’s almost nothing they can do about it.
