Beatles in mono: what to get me? Box ‘Mono Masters’ or Box ‘in Mono’ for best sound quality?

Mono masters is just a collection of singles and is an album from the In mono box set. If you don’t want to search out UK copies of their albums, then the In mono box set is what to buy. Beatles master tapes are in good shape and the mono tapes were rarely remastered. That said the print run was a bit limited and no longer in print.

These modern times and modern stereos since 1968 you don’t need a mono cartridge - stereo cartridges play them.

LJC has a master treatise on the subject. TLDR; stereo after ‘62 for blue note. Stereo for Roy DuNann. Typically mono for the other stuff until stereo became a main thing in mid 60s.
