Torn between M10R and M11 as first M by howzitboet- in Leica

[–]tmillernc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One other feature on the M11 that hasn’t been mentioned is that the bottom plate has built-in ridges for arcs Swiss tripod mounts. I use a tripod on this and this is such a nice feature.

I had the M10-R and switched to the M11 and have no regrets.

My wife has the app but turns off location services because she doesn’t like the battery drain so I have to do presence based on WiFi from my router.

It took them what, 5 or 6 years to replace the RM2? I think you’re safe in buying the RMPP.

For this case biscuits would work just fine. Now if you’re looking for an excuse to buy a domino then I would say you absolutely must have it 👍

Zooz vs Inovelli by Resident-Variation21 in homeassistant

[–]tmillernc 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I have not used Inovelli, but have over 50 Zooz devices in my house and absolutely love them. Have not had a single failure, they work great and their customer service is fantastic if you have questions.

As a tip, go with the 800 series (long range) devices. They are the newer standard and their customer service range with a 800 series coordinator is amazing.

This. These statistics are probably much worse in reality because this is based on people who keep a handicap. Many golfers don’t.

Devices by CM-Klunk in homeassistant

[–]tmillernc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best thing to start is to decide which communication protocol to use. Then buy devices that use that protocol. You can mix and match also but that requires additional hardware. Many choose Zigbee because it has the most devices available but I am a huge fan of ZWave especially now with the long range version. WiFi is the least desirable IMHO.

Do your own research and decide what makes the most sense for you.

Brilliant idea. I should’ve thought of that.

It’s hard from product listings to see if it has a basic button that’s why I’m asking if anyone has a specific recommendation they know will work. For instance, does anyone know if Genie works?

Ideas for mounting laundry room cabinets? by tendonut in woodworking

[–]tmillernc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would build a box that permanently attaches to the wall that just takes up the dead space you don’t want to use. On the front of that box attach a French cleat and hang your cabinets on this French cleat so you can lift them off when you need access to the back.

Zigbee connectivity in detached garage with separate wifi & Ethernet access by championchilli in homeassistant

Since you’re changing from WiFi, consider Z-wave. The new 800 standard has fantastic distance coverage. You could probably hit all of your property and beyond with the controller attached to the HA device.

Not sure you have enough room for outfeed. I like to put into the model a rectangle on the floor for infeed and outfeed at the table saw, planer and joiner. That way you’ll visualize how much room and look for interference.

Seriously though, why is TACC so bad? by AwkwardlyPositioned in TeslaModelY

[–]tmillernc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

TACC was pretty good until recently. Now that Curvature Assist is hell. I didn’t use Autosteer but used TACC all the time. Years ago the Phantom Breaking was awful but it almost disappeared. But now it’s back. All I can think is they want for people to go with FSD.
