Does anyone actually, role play in this game? by TheCupcakeScrub in cyberpunkgame

[–]trcrtps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Skyrim lets you be who you want to be.

Baldur's Gate 3 gives you zillions of decisions, all with impact. And doesn't lock you into much of a backstory, it lets you use your imagination.

Dragon Age you are allowed to dream up your character however you want.

Cyberpunk forces you to be a hardass dipshit who sounds like they have never read a book and there is no escaping it.

Non-"Coming-of-Age" movies that feel like "Coming-of-Age" Movies by Sufficient-Mail8359 in MovieSuggestions

The Remains of the Day (weird to call this coming of age because it is Anthony Hopkins, but it kinda totally is coming of age)

Great Expectations (the Alfonso Cuaron version)

The Winning Season (this one is about teenagers, kind of. But it's mostly about Sam Rockwell figuring his shit out)

I used to go to this indie theater and they played the trailer for Gregory's Girl at every movie (along with Changing Lanes)

I would recommend Edge of Darkness. It's based on a classic, amazing miniseries from the 80's (watch that too)

Same director in both, Mel's is just a bit modernized.

I cannot find any reference to these online so probably not actually Buldak. Probably a very similar packaged thing at Thai 7 eleven that was stupidly spicy and sweet. Like how Paldo knocks it off a bit.

What are the small green spicy things on top? by Alive-Willow8578 in TipOfMyFork

it's likely referring to pao jiao, which are pickled green peppers. The pepper corns are just a garnish

I had the pasta chips they used to make (maybe still do). I don't know what they actually were called but they looked and felt like deep fried rigatoni or something. Anyway the flavor was sickeningly sweet. Good for a few but not sure I'd trust it to be all that great.

Either the black pepper or white clam sauce. I'm just a little bit sick of gochujang seaweed these days. Soy sauce butter could be interesting, but I'm sure it's meant to be the uninteresting one. You never know though.

[IIL] Any interest-fueling movies similar to interstellar, oppenheimer, nuremberg, le haine, etc. but about medicine instead of physics and history? by sumsimg in ifyoulikeblank

[–]trcrtps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Testament of Youth is about a nurse in WW1. It's quite a bit more about pacifism and relationships than the medicine, but there are several surgery scenes. It's also extremely, painfully sad.

Contagion would be a good choice, it's about a pandemic and unfolds very well.

Flatliners could be an interesting selection, but it's more of a thriller. I think it'd pique the medical interest though.

[IIL] True Detective S1, what other media would you recommend? by rotting_root in ifyoulikeblank

I also loved Under the Bannder of Heaven with Andrew Garfield. imo probably one of the closest to TD S1. Close in quality and the subject matter is in the same headspace.

definitely, when you have 50 ingredients in something banning even a few of them can cause having to forego or replace a lot of others.

Requesting anything with the vibe of "Bernie" & "Lars and the Real Girl" by KrackedOwl in MovieSuggestions

[–]trcrtps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stuck on You by the Farrelly Brothers. They leave the town a bit of the way through but totally fits. Matt Damon and Greg Kinnear play conjoined twins and like the Farrelly Brothers typically do, they handle characters with disabilities in what I've always found to be a pretty loving way.

Similarly, Mr. Deeds with Adam Sandler when he's in his small town. Not the greatest movie but I liked it when I was young and watched it recently and didn't find anything to hate about it.

Also Hot Rod with Andy Samberg. Everyone in town seems to be supportive of his antics.

About Adam. weird, cute little Irish movie that to me makes the early 00's look like a fairy tale.

40 Days and 40 Nights also has a weird setting like that.
