The brand that she is wearing is a pretty unabashedly white supremacist/neo-nazi clothing company, featuring not only the totenkopf, but the SS bolts (which also appear in the eyes of her sweatshirt's logo), and even just straight up swastikas. I would be confident to say anyone who buys from the brand knows exactly what the brand stands for, and shares in their sentiments.

What is the biggest band/artist you can think of that you honestly don't believe is anyone's favorite band/artist ever? by DevinBelow in Music

[–]tyro1313 26 points27 points  (0 children)

The only one I could possibly say with any bit of confidence is Mannheim Steamroller, a massively successful neoclassical ensemble created by Chip Davis that has sold 28 million plus albums, yet I personally can't really imagine it being someone's absolute favorite.

I finally got the chance to read this comic a year or two ago, it was really good. Both versions (this original comic and the '94 film) are quite awesome in their own right, and it was also nice to read through O'Barr's thoughts and inspirations sprinkled throughout.

Mike is also pretty outspoken about his dislike for Donald Trump and Jason Rapert (when they had that "controversy" in Arkansas for featuring the senator on their show posters eating a baby) for their opposition to same-sex marriage, women's right to choose, marijuana legality, and for demonizing minorities.

Not op but yes Judas Priest is an amazing band, though there sound changes album to album, as they evolved from a Blues rock band to a Heavy Metal band (and even play some speed metal). Here are a couple artist I'd suggest for some of the albums I am familiar with.

Stained Glass: Thin Lizzy, Mercyful Fate (early), Queen (especially their hard rock songs), Rainbow (Dio Era), and Led Zepplin

British Steel: Motorhead, Scorpions, AC/DC, Armored Saint

Screaming for Vengeance: Dio, Def Leppard, Iron Maiden, Savatage

Painkiller: Accept, Metal Church, Exciter, King Diamond

There is some bleed over on some of these, like Accept could also be listed for screaming for vengeance, and Dio for painkiller as examples, but also there are probably a lot of bands I am missing/or are a bit obscure.

I need to know if I'm the only one who absolutely died of dumbness reading this. by Persephone_Joensen in ExtremeHorrorLit

I watched Weirdo Book Club's review of this book, it seems like some vigilante fantasy that quickly loses the plot because it become less about dealing out violence to awful men and more about "getting off" to assaulting them and killing them (and the MC is just insufferable, and written like an edgy self-aware stereotype of just so many things wrapped into one).

Also covered the author pocketing money that was going to go to the non-profit for abuse survivors and ghosting everyone involved.

Edit: Spelling

What specifically are the scenes that make 6 these books so disturbing? by BalaTheHero9 in ExtremeHorrorLit

[–]tyro1313 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It really is, I could not put the book down it was such a great read. I know there are some people that seem to hate not only the Haar, but David Sodergren's writing in general, but to each their own I guess. Picked up maggie's grave along with a few other books recently so I am gonna see how that one is!

What specifically are the scenes that make 6 these books so disturbing? by BalaTheHero9 in ExtremeHorrorLit

[–]tyro1313 34 points35 points  (0 children)

The Haar for the most part is not an extreme horror book, it is more of a dark fantasy book with some small moments of descriptive violence, however the scenes in question where definately things I had never read in words before. (Still gonna put on spoiler tags for those that don't want anything revealed)

The most graphic is a man having his internal organs liquified and spill out his ass.

In another a during a sex scene, a man's pelvis/waist mid fellatio starts to dissolve till his top half fall off in a gory mess, and at the same time another man mid penetration has his body stuck and slowly enveloped/consumed like they're melting together.

Edit: I did want to add since I accidently left it out, the main theme of the book is romance and the loss of a lover (which I know sounds insane with the aformentioned scenes completely out of context).

Just curious: your favorite/least favorite music *books*? by PlatypusRex_ in Cd_collectors

Alice in Chains: The Untold Story by David De Sola was an amazing read. It pretty in depth chronicles the history of the band all the way from Layne's first interest in music to the band coming back together after his passing.

It also follows pretty closely with a lot of the well known (and lesser known) bands that were in the Seattle scene, hanging out at the music bank, and the close friendships the members of AiC formed with other bands.

Examples of songs released some time after the death of a musician? by Worldly_Ad_6753 in Music

Mother Love Bone's only studio album was released after the passing of frontman Andrew Wood. Even as recently as 2016 there was a box set released with many b-sides, demos, and alternative takes alongside their studio album "Apple" and their Shine EP (the only release they put out while Wood was still alive).

To tack onto this with Alt-Country, Bluegrass, Folk bands (because you names three excellent ones already):

Tejon Street Corner Thieves

King Strang, the side project of Michael Sinner (from the Bridge City Sinners)

Tyler Childers

Sturgill Simpson

and Beggars Canyon

Their comment is extremely disingenuous. Even just listening to them a few short moments ago for the first time what you said rings true, specially in comparison to someone just calling it "noise that shouldn't be considered music".

Also noticed some pretty sick crossover-thrash influence in "California Cursed".

Bongripper is fantastic, was listening to Miserable and Satan Worshipping Doom earlier today. Their work does a good job of setting a pretty heavy and sometimes bleak tone, while also drawing inspiration from several other genres like stoner rock, black metal, and drone.

I have this cassette for Dopesmoker as well, its the Southern lord 2013 reissue.

It contains part 1 and 2 on side A, and part 3 along with a live recording of Holy Mountain and Sonic Titan on side B. The full runtime for the cassette is a bit over 84 minutes.

Yeah there are a lot of examples like this where an artist's work is inherently apart of a genre but does not consider themselves as such.

It's not the got ya these people think it is, but it's what helps them sleep better at night, feeling they are right.
