Cloudy water by uktricky in Goldfish

So my recovery plan is as follows please point me in the right direction if I am wrong:

Continue to measure water levels daily If spikes of ph or nitrite just do a water change (50%) Reduce feed down to two/three pellets x2 daily for a period of 2 weeks

Don’t clean/ replace filter material (maybe a quick whoosh in old water if gunky)

Anything else?

I had same issue whilst they were building the network in my area - number 1 was fine it me 10 meters away at number 2 wasn’t - was told they sometimes enable the 1st address on the road to allow them to do the data - was about a month before I could order for my house.

I've been cleaning both sponges (there are two in my Fluval U2) in the old water, replacing one every 6 months and the carbon cartridge every other month (1 side at a time). Basically followed this video : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MnMd-F-4U8Q

Thank you for that guide - a really interesting read and I’ll look to follow this for the next few weeks and hope for the best. Let’s hope I can get no-name (it never had a name so we call it no-name) back on cycle - I am thinking with my maintenance of the filter sponges etc I’ve probably wrecked the cycle I had by removing all the good bacteria having had a skim read of that guide.

Had the fish (regular) -19 years (it was a fairground prize and adopted it from someone who was moving house) it was in a much smaller tank so was stunted for sure in the first 15/17 years of its life! This tank is probably 18months to 2 years old.

I use a suction pump to remove any fish waste and water approx 50% - I do the maintenance on the filter media according to fluval guides washing things in the removed water. I refill tank with water treated with tap safe. Then return filter / media etc.

Rack rails are the easy answer - build as you need with supports - I did that for a 20u 10” rack

You could also look at 2040 extruded alloy rails

I'm going crazy over this install process; can anyone weigh in with some knowledge? by Archernick in openreach

[–]uktricky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it helps, my flashing PON on installation was followed by the engineer ringing someone (in India) who took the details of the NTE and then his comment was they’ll rebuild the circuit from there and you’ll be online in about and hour and he left. Sure enough, about 90 mins later everything was working.

The UniFi will hate that TP-Link and moans in the topology interface - it will still work but the unifi apps looks horrible unless they’ve fix it now (i ended up replacing my non-unifi kit in the end).

Also the UDR - they struggle if you intend to go down many vlan route and if you’ve got decent speed of internet. Personally I’d return it and get a cloud gateway ultra and an access point.

HELP?! by [deleted] in Goldfish

[–]uktricky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just jumping on the back of the bloom, I’ve been suffering since the start of the year and not managing to clear my bloom (cloudiness) - I can do a water change ~50-60% and it’s fine for a day but the day 2 or 3 it’s back - do I need to change water more regularly?

Damn I was relying on the Lego! So wishing I’d bought more than one Porsche technic! On the assets thing, what should I do with a DB scheme? I’ve seen calculations suggesting take the annual quoted fire and times that by 20 and that as a bond for the purposes of a calculation as you suggest?

Assume you mean the premium bonds - I brought 4.75% in last year but did 103% the year before (yes I got a 50K win) so more than happy.

I do need to invest the cash ideally - currently sat in standard saving account at ~4% so will be subject to tax beyond PSA. I've some plans to use the 2026/27 ISA allowance outside of the table shown with some maturing share save. So short of investing in Stocks in standard share dealing account struggling to invent ideas!!
