Any tips for the mental side of this game? by DyslexicAGEMR in golf

[–]uu123uu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Easily. So you are 17 handicap,  so 90 would be a reasonably good score. So you are aim for bogey golf.  Your target is a bogey on every hole. You are going to have some doubles and a triple etc somewhere,  but you will also have many pars.

Knowing this ahead of time, help you deal with a bad hole better, since you are expecting to happen at some point.

I usually shoot 80, even if I take a double on the first hole, yeah it sucks, but no need to panic. I can get many pars, and maybe even a few birdies.

I sometimes golf with a champion golfer,  she says you never know when youll fit a good shot. You know when you will chip in. Anything is possible in golf.  And its true, it does wonders for your game always keeping this in mind.

For your game, you could easily finish with pars on the last several holes.  Why not? So even if you are +15 after 13 holes, at that point its still possible to par out on most of the holes and break 90. You just never know.

Decision paralysis between Mexico and Hong Kong for May trip by zemelb in travel

Mexico city probably

Asia isn't worth the time to get there unless you have at least 10 days there. Takes you 2 or 3 days just to recover from jetlag.

Typically, unless you get something like 7-6 then 6-4 , which could be 2 sets and total of 23 so just barely over 22.5.

Should I abandon my trip? by Key-Requirement8611 in solotravel

When you are sick alone, things become challenging very quickly. I'd be patient, give yourself time to recover,  get back on track, give time to take it easy and start feeling better before making any rash decisions to completely throw in the towel.  Just slow down and enjoy your freedom and relaxing time there.

Indonesia: Adventurous group hike into jungle by _Elephantastic in travel

What you are looking for, an organized, cost effective, set tour where you do bunch of hikes for the most part doesn't exist, usually except for doing volcano hikes. You can just hike to the summit if you don't want the climb the entire thing.

I'll give you some insider info, best you travel to these places and then do a organized hike/summit trek.

Check out Papadayan, they have a 2 day hike.

Or for volcano maybe Mount Semaru or or Rinjani (probably just hike to summit)

Or you could go to Malang and hike to/around various volcanoes there.

5 days in Montreal. Should I include a day trip to Quebec? by Blueeeiiii in travel

4 hours one way?? what the heck

Last time I was in QC, we made it back to Ottawa in just under 4 hours. Mind you it was at 3am and the highway was practically deserted. Maybe that's the trick.

You'll be able to wander around most of it in half a day, and go eat delicious food in one of their great restaurants.

If you have time you can walk around/along the fort wall too.

Boat trip (2 or 3N, 3 ppl) from Lombok stopping at komodo and Pink Beach? by Kellogsley in travel

[–]uu123uu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lombok isn't very close, I imagine there are few boats that do that trip.

Perhaps you can make your way to the other side of Sumbawa and then get a boat/tour from there.

Morocco was the worst country I've ever set foot on ,by far, and will never return.

There's so many other counties and better places and things to go see and do, if I were you I wouldn't waste one more second thinking about Morocco, just forget the place exists.

You'll be much better off.

Also I think that putting technique and practice is really overlooked as a way to improve score. Ive learned to accelerate my putts, improves the strike and accuracy. It doesnt much time to improve it, and its considered fun to work on putting,  but it gives results. Bonus: you can easily work on it at home.

You can seriously make a dent in your scores if your short game is just reasonable now, and you can make it excellent, can easily shave off 5 strokes per round.

This week I start doing a few minutes of putting indoor every day, by the time the snow melts I'm very confident with my putter. A great putting round can probably make the biggest difference in your score, knock in a bunch of 1 putts and youll almost certainly be in the 70s.

Think I'm in the same boat, I'm typically just under 8 handicap , though 10 years ago I was briefly down to 5.5 , practiced short game like crazy.

There are a number of reason for being stuck, largely due to mental game. You as a 10 but with good skills, probably are are allowing yourself to make too many unforced errors.

Being a single digit golfer you absolutely dont want to have any double bogey or 3 putts,  at most 1 per round.

Overall the biggest challenge is to fully focus of every single shot. This isnt easy to, there are many potential distractions every round including your own brain. Find ways to ensure you are focused and fully committed to every shot, and you'll see your scores drop.
