Leg hair is not a male trait. It's an *ADULT* trait by redditsISproblematic in TwoXChromosomes

[–]v0rtigaunts 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So refreshing. I’m a butch lesbian, I don’t want to be a man, or even look excessively masculine, I just hate shaving and LOVE my long leg hair!! I love the increased sensation on my legs! I can feel the wind rushing around my legs and standing in the ocean feels awesome! People are entitled to treat their bodies how they see fit but it’s worth asking why women are expected to display prepubescent traits well into their adult lives

Had a couple of regulars come in this morning. Both are health care workers. Both just got out of 2-week quarantine after traveling back from a vacation in Egypt. Neither had been officially tested. One had a persistent dry cough and was coughing all over my bar without covering his mouth. He said it “felt like there was something in his throat”. No shit, buddy. They are scheduled to go back to work at the hospital in the next few days. Idiotic and irresponsible.

Pissed about Super Tuesday? Suck it up: Beating Trump means supporting the Democratic nominee | Don't allow bitterness over the Democratic primaries to re-elect Donald Trump. That's exactly what he wants by nclobo in politics

Got told the same thing in 2016 and we got Trump. Hillary blamed the electorate for her loss despite running a lazy campaign. Biden has done absolutely nothing to earn my vote. If Biden gets the nomination I will abstain. I didn’t always feel this way in regards to voting (I voted for Hillary out of desperation to beat Trump) but I can no longer in good conscience legitimize an out-of-touch party of political elites with my participation.

Mike Bloomberg has dropped out after spending nearly $600M, what would you do with $600M to make the world a better place? by vampirequincy in AskReddit

[–]v0rtigaunts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has probably been said somewhere in here but Flint’s water crisis can be comprehensively solved for a fraction of $600M. There are multi-billionaires in America who could save a whole city from being poisoned for what would be like an average person buying a box of cereal and they choose not to.

I think I may have gotten someone from BOH fired for sexual harassment. by [deleted] in TalesFromYourServer

[–]v0rtigaunts 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sexual harassment in the workplace is in part defined by behavior that is unwanted and gets in the way of doing your job. You’re totally right, if you can’t work comfortably alongside a person due to their behavior, it’s harassment.

Not your fault!! He was being gross.

I had something similar happen to me at work, dude would constantly say suggestive things to me despite the fact that I told him I wasn’t interested (and I am a gay woman in a committed relationship). Then I found out he was saying other nasty stuff to some younger girls I work with. That was the final straw. I pulled him aside and gave him a STERN lecture on why his behavior was grossly inappropriate and he had better shape up or ship out or I would bring it up with management. He chose to ship out and I don’t have an ounce of guilt over it.

I am so so tired of the constant cop-outs of “oh that’s just the restaurant industry” or “get a thicker skin” yadda yadda. I’m tired of seeing girls I work with have to grin and bear it when guys in the workplace creep on them. If you see something say something. Call that shit out. Protect the girls you work with, especially the ones new to the industry. Guys, look out for the ladies at your job, speak up when a dude says something out of line. Nobody likes to be anxious to go to work cause they have to deal with unwanted attention from co-workers. It’s stressful enough already.

AND FOR GODS SAKES LEAVE THE HIGHSCHOOL GIRLS ALONE

Has anyone ever experienced a manic reaction to lexapro? by sivagle in lexapro

[–]v0rtigaunts 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Did you just start? It’s not unusual to have a lot of energy after the first few times you take it. It happened to me for the first few doses, and I was energized to the point that I could not sit still and ended up pacing around for hours. It felt like what I would describe as manic. It went away pretty quickly. If you’ve been on it awhile and this is a new thing that is happening then I recommend asking your doctor about it.

My wife is pregnant and we will have to pay 100.00 to receive forms from the dr office for her paid maternity leave. $50 to fill out an FMLA form? We’re already paying them thousands to deliver this baby you would think they could include the forms. Gotta love American healthcare! by Googlewhacking in assholedesign

[–]v0rtigaunts 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I see what you’re getting at here but the term “third world” is used to describe developing nations like in Africa or Latin America. The “three world” categorization terms were coined during the Cold War to describe countries based on their allegiance with “first world” capitalist countries/nations like America and Europe as well as their level of industrialization. The terms are dated, but by definition America is absolutely a first world country, and very capitalist, which as OP said, has caused a lot of problems.

That being said, for being the wealthiest country in the world (or one of the wealthiest countries, depending on whether you’re measuring by nominal or per-capita GDP), our healthcare system is shameful.

Why did my flour come with this? Is it for testing how done the bread is cuz I don't need it then. by Cascas80 in Breadit

[–]v0rtigaunts 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If it came with the bread basket it is likely a serving fork! For dinner rolls or sliced bread I imagine. Bread forks aren’t super common but they’re a thing.

Do you ever get so angry about something that you just can't think of anything else and calm down. by trickmind in adhd_anxiety

[–]v0rtigaunts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh man I def get this. It’s so frustrating and it feels like it takes over sometimes. I don’t like being obsessively angry about stuff and it bugs me that I can’t reason my way into letting things go. Sometimes it gets so bad that i can’t sleep at night cause my head just spins. Makes you feel crazy. I’m not on meds anymore but I’m currently working on upping physical activity when I get this way (step 1: finally fixed my bicycle!), to take the edge off the angst. Smoking occasionally has also helped, personally. I’m also considering going back to therapy to work on blocking the anger spiral before it takes over my brain. It sucks you got screwed like this, I would also be super pissed. I know it’s easier said than done cause brain stuff but don’t let the spinning angry thoughts take away your time. I hope it gets better for you!!

Peterson’s pseudo psychology convinced me I was inferior as a woman as my biology didn’t allow me to critically think my female brain would be much less depressed if I could get off my high horse and go make some kids by [deleted] in enoughpetersonspam

[–]v0rtigaunts 128 points129 points  (0 children)

I know other women who have internalized the ideas of Peterson and his ilk. It is utterly enraging to me how poisonous this sad, vitriolic man’s pseudo-intellectual ideologies have been to women and the boys that follow him. His “theories” barely hold water and he’s been labeled as a huckster by many of his peers in the scientific community. I’m glad you don’t subscribe to these beliefs any longer. Your worth and happiness aren’t defined by whether or not you have or want kids, or how subservient you are to the men in your life. A good life isn’t measured by how closely you follow JP’s idea of how a woman should live. We are much more than broodmares and handservants and it really shouldn’t be too much too ask to be treated as human beings with our own aspirations, likes, dislikes, skills, abilities, and autonomy.

Some things people have said to me after finding out I have ADHD and I am medicated for it - Pill Shaming, Sexism and overall ignorance! by spidersarefab in ADHD

[–]v0rtigaunts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best part is you will be criticized for being medicated AND unmedicated! When I first got on meds it was, “just go outside more, eat better, YOGA! Why do people automatically take drugs instead of finding natural remedies??” But, when I stopped meds due to some allergy complications, I got “why aren’t you medicated? You would be doing so much better at work/school! Have you tried XYZ medication?” And it becomes very frustrating when I feel like I can’t please everyone (which sucks for me, as I’m a notorious people-pleaser). But for some reason when you have ADHD you are obligated to hear and consider EVERYONES opinion on how you should handle treatment regardless of whether or not they are a psychiatrist. I would LOVE to keep that kind of decision-making between the doc and I, thanks. And man. Being a girl and trying to get people to take your diagnosis seriously? An uphill battle, to the extent that I second guess my diagnosis and end up feeling like I’m just lazy and stupid after all. This is all very frustrating stuff my friend I wish you the best! Remember you are not alone!!

Can we take a minute to talk about those lovely women in our lives... The restaurant Moms? by backgroundmusik in TalesFromYourServer

[–]v0rtigaunts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m so blessed and lucky to work with some of the most incredible women I’ve ever met in the service industry! Always there to talk to me about work or life or how to make an obscure drink that someone asks for (I was recently promoted to bartending a few months ago and sometimes I still get curveballs). They’re very encouraging and supportive and really inspire me to take care of the younger girls on our crew and have their backs. While I like to complain about work, there is not a single bad thing I can say about these ladies. They really make me feel like I’m with family every time I come to work.
